hey everyone.
now technically, this wasn't a fuckup from today..but boy, is it a good one..
so i took this huge roadtrip about a month ago, and left my apartment with only $70. crazy? yes i know. i have to say thank hey-suess for the awesome connections i have made throughout the US, or else it would've been more of a fuckup than i'm about to reveal.
so i stopped in Nashville, TN for awhile to have dinner with a friend. afterwards, we hung out until late, and i really wanted to get going and avoid a rather personal situation that i won't go into. so on my way out of Nash, about 20min north of town and i take a look down at my engine temperature and realize that it's WAY past the red.
so i'm like "shit shit" and i stop in a neighborhead right off an exit from the highway. i pop the hood and try to determine what's wrong with the car and i'm really not too adept with cars altho i'm always willing to learn..
so i call my friend and he wakes up, and comes down there, gets me, and we head to Walmart to get a flashlight, a funnel, some oil, and some coolant (seeing as how lack of fluids cause most car problems). we get back, fill it up, and it's still overheating..so not only do i have a non-working car, but i'm also stuck in the middle of TN (and i live in FL) with a friend that i'd rather not stay with due to certain circumstances.
so we head back to his place and i crash. i wake up, call up AAA and ask them for help. they tell me i have to be with the car in order to recieve help...and of course, the car is miles away and i don't know the address because i'm not from TN and i'm staying somewhere other than where it broke down.
so i ask my friend's roomate if he can take me to it, after searching through Google Earth to find exactly where it was..
and we get there..
and it's gone..
FUCK.
he guesses that it probably got impounded and he was right. $122 later (overdrafted i might add) and i'm stranded with a barely working car at some gas station near the industrial part of Nashville. my friend's roomate had to go to work.
the car was actually fine, because after i turned it on again, the temperature steadily went down and stayed at normal levels..and so i made my way to Indy and the rest of my trip.
drawn out and complicated, but i consider that whole fiasco quite a fuckup, no?
icing on the cake was that weeks later, back in FL, as i was preparing to go to VA for Thanksgiving, i head over to Walmart to get an oil change and whaddya know..my car was 6 quarts over the normal level of oil.
turns out all the car needed was coolant, and some time to work through the shock of going from zero-fluids to full-fluids.
all in all, i could've really fucked up my car, and i'm sure this'll turn up sometime later in the life of my vehicle.
what a vacation;)
