Arcana: Temperance
Time Period: 1934
Name: Edith Forester
Gender: Female
Blood Type: AB
Birthday/Sign: August 21st/Virgo
Age: 17
Occupation/Grade: On student council/12th
Room:

PB: Mika Mikli | Senko no Ronde
Appearance: To begin, Edith's hair is brown, rather than black as some of the icons might make it seem. Despite the time, she still wears her hair in a bob cut, though peer pressure has her heavily considering growing it longer. Her eyes are blue. She does have glasses, though they're only for reading. In regards to height and weight, both are average for a girl of her age. She makes a point of standing up straight, though a combination of long eyelashes and actual tiredness often make her appear a bit sleepy.

She doesn't do anything particularly special to her uniform, but outside of school, she wears hats and sundresses in muted colors, though she does like blue.

Personality: If she had to describe herself, Edith would say that she's very... stable, for lack of a better word. Indeed, she does appear as such. She's very calm and focused at all times when there are people around, rarely loses her temper, and never raises her voice. Endlessly patient, she gives off the aura of someone who was raised very well.

Of course, I just lied.

All of those things are true, but more than anything else, the above is severely exaggerated out of a strong sense of duty to her family and school. She is the student council president, after all-- if she didn't appear calm and willing to listen to everyone's issues, no one would be, at least that's how she feels. If asked about it, she'd likely say that she's "just one person" and that anyone could do her job, but truthfully, Edith values her position and would fight fiercely for it.

As much of a stick-in-the-mud as she appears to be, she's actually a bit of a nerd as far as women in her time period go, and has several unfeminine hobbies. For example, she has an interest in sports, and would happily talk about them with others if she didn't fear for her image. Edith also has an interest in the occult, but can't exactly be called knowledgeable about the subject-- given the time period, learning about it and keeping it a secret would be a bit hard.

Edith deeply desires a regulation of her in-school/around-family persona and her actual feelings, and this is where her issue comes from. She wants to be herself, but also values her current lot in life, and oftentimes the two don't stay apart quite the way she wants. Edith goes to great lengths to keep them separated, however, though it takes a bit of energy to do so, because in the grand scheme of things (and unbeknownst to her) they aren't very different. She has a tendency to make mountains out of molehills, and doesn't know herself particularly well outside of being able to make an effort of separating her personae.

History: Once upon a time, there was a magical place called Louisiana. In 1914, a young William Baker met a young Claire Emerson. After a year of very awkward courting, the two of them were married. In 1917, they had their first daughter, Edith. A year after, they had a son, who took his father's name.

The seven years following Edith's third birthday and Bill Jr.'s second allowed them to prosper as a family-- William managed to provide for them solely by transporting alcohol to and from places-- at least, that was what he had said.

Some of their wealth did come from that, yes, but truthfully speaking, most of the money came from various trinkets he stole and pawned. The love had left from his and Claire's relationship after the first two or so years, and initially he even took jewelry of hers to sell, feeling that she had too much of it anyway. This was noticed after the first few months, and Claire confronted him about it in private-- or so she thought. Edith, six years old at the time, caught the tail end of their argument, wherein her father actually struck her mother for raising her voice to him the way that she did. Edith never told anyone what she saw, and avoided speaking above a normal tone following.

Things only got worse from there.

In 1928, William, having stolen from the wrong type of person, was killed. Claire quickly remarried to Harold Forester, her lover. She herself was very happy, despite the rumors that she and Harold had arranged for William's death. Young Bill was appropriately distraught-- as far as he knew, his father was a great man, and because of that, he began to drift away from his family, ever-so-slightly. Edith, on the other hand, knew that he wasn't all that he made himself out to be, but loved him in spite of that. She resented her mother for remarrying so quickly, but also loved her. Torn between her love for both of her parents, she simply resolved to take a neutral stance and avoid discussing her feelings when she could.

In 1929, through a combination of early-Depression stress and a desire to escape the rumors, the Forester family moved up north. Life in a place where no one knew them was uneventful, and Harold was wealthy enough to support them. Aside from occasional outbursts from Bill surrounding his real father's death and how he "couldn't believe his mother", things went well, and in 1931, Edith was enrolled in Adessi Hall and over two years, usurped the position of student council president.
