Dear Live Journal,
I just noticed that I have not posted anything of substance since sometime in March. Now, you might disagree and state that it has been even longer than THAT. But, I am here to give you an update. I didn't even really get to finish talking about Hawaii. Reasons on why I haven't been posting much are behind the cut. However, I have been reading and even commenting on some posts.
* Hawaii was a fun trip. It was nice to get away. I definitely needed the vacation. The weather could have been better. The rain caused the water in front of the house to be dirty and rough, making swimming not so fun but it was still enjoyable. Contrary to popular opinion, not all shave ice is the same. Matsumoto's in Haleiwa is amazing for shave ice and the line is always out the door. The Dole Plantation is the best place for a Dole Whip (duh). I ate enough Garlic Shrimp to last a lifetime. Michael had to go to the ER on Friday because of a kidney stone. It was nice to soak in the hot tub at night. We watched FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL while we were there and realized that where they filmed the movie, TURTLE BAY RESORT, was just down the street from us. We went there on our last night and enjoyed dinner and the sunset. It was great just spending quality time with my hubby and three best friends.
* Shortly before I left for Hawaii, my boss was fired (she deserved it) and her boss resigned (he should have stayed) and so I have been put in charge. I have been working 10 to 12 hour days and most of the time when I get home, I don't feel like getting on the computer very much. I am not complaining. I love my job and I am happy to have one. Also, the pay check looks really nice.
* Not super busy with any theater right now. For South Bay Musical Theatre, formerly Saratoga Drama Group, we are opening CHICAGO on Saturday night. I am sure it will be a great show. For Renegade Theatre Experience, we have auditions on Saturday for BUG. Then, at the end of the month, for SBMT, we have our General Auditions for next season (THE PRODUCERS, AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' and HELLO, DOLLY!). Rehearsals for THE PRODUCERS will begin in July so I am trying to do as little as possible before then.
* I am hoping to be directing two shows next year but nothing is set in stone yet. I just interviewed to direct URINETOWN next spring for Sunnyvale Community Players. I feel very positive that I will get the gig but you never know. Next fall, Renegade wants to do it's first musical. Right now it might be DEBBIE DOES DALLAS:THE MUSICAL but that is still WAY up in the air. We are trying to finalize this upcoming season first.
* I was just in Palm Springs last weekend. It was my first trip in ten years and it was great, thanks to my great hosts, Mike and Randy, and to the other bears that made me feel VERY welcomed. It was fun being the new meat. The 100 degree temp didn't bother me at all and I had some good food. Also watched STAR TREK, and even though I am not a fan of sci-fi movies, I had an enjoyable time with the movie.
* We have decided to make our next big trip in 2012. We are going to Australia for two weeks. Not sure what we are going to do yet. I was hoping to go to Mardi Gras but it is also the hottest and most humid time of year to go. So, we will see. Next year we are doing an Alaskan Cruise but that is easy to plan.
Looking forward to the busy weekend. It keeps me out of trouble.
