I have tried to tolerate her, but she's especially insistent on bugging me today for some reason. These drone children are an absolute menace! If any of you have any tips on how to deal with her, I want them now. Don't suggest I tell her to do her homework; I've already tried that, and she's insisting she's finished. She's giving me a horrible ( Read more... )

[There are so many ways he could brush off that demand, so many, which would normally be followed by hanging up on her. So, when the answer come out as:]

Sure. I'll be there in a few.

[...he sure hopes he isn't the only one surprised. Weird. That felt off.]

[She's only surprised for a second. That is the kind of response she's used to, after all!]

Alright. Make haste, then.

[But from Caesar?

He's still trying to put his finger on what went wrong there by the time he strolls on over to Lilly's house. It doesn't make sense, but he stows the thought for now and knocks on the door.]

[She opens it, looking a bit stunned. How did he get over here so fast?]

...You made good time. Excellent. I have something I need your help with. Come inside.

[Easy. He left immediately after hanging up. It isn't as if he ran or anything.]

Of course I did. I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. [Aaarrghhldfsjklfhishdsknxg. Caesar steps in, taking a look around the house as he does. Huh. Not much different from his own.] So what is it?

...Of course you couldn't. [Curiouser and curiouser! Still, Lilly's dense enough that she still hasn't quite on. She will soon, though.]

The drones are bothering me about how clean the house isn't. Today, you and I are going to clean it. There's no getting out of it.

[He's going to need a heroic rescue if she does catch on.]

I guess ignoring them didn't work out. How about you go relax and let me take care of this? It can't be too bad.

[And there it is.]

What are you planning, Caesar Silverberg?

[Oh, but just look at how innocent he looks here. How could he possibly be up to anything at all.]

What's that supposed to mean? I'm just trying to be nice here.

You're hiding something. If you're doing something behind my back, I order you to come clean.

[No way. He has absolutely nothing to tell her.]

I'm having a sword made for you?

[...oh yeah, that was sort of behind her back. He hadn't mentioned it yet. Not that it applied to cleaning a house.]

You are?

...That's. Very commendable of you. You have my gratitude, Caesar.

[That's enough to make her less suspicious! It doesn't really explain anything, but she does want a sword.]

Is there anything else I should know?

It'd be a failure on my part if I didn't see the lady armed.

[He won't believe he said that come tomorrow... Oh hell. Why did she ask that question?]
