Looking into this, having to first take into account that I've never encountered this problem before, lol. I don't even know where to start, but will try to ask some others to get me pointed in the right direction.

i'm using adobe photoshop 7. and when i say disappear i mean it um becomes um... you know how when a window is inactive the header becomes lighter compared to the active window? and if i go to click on it - it won't let me. so the option isn't available. am i doing something wrong? do i have to set the image to some mode or something? or use a mask or something? heh ok hope it all makes sense & thank you! :)

First off, thank you so much for doing these for us. It helps a lot. I have a questions I hope you don't mind...lol I make a ToyFare Funny for my comic, I'm not sure if you know what that is, but if you want to look quickly to get an idea you can see what I mean here.
http://www.livejournal.com/users/epcdnr/471714.html My questions relate to that.
Before I start forgive me for using cartoons as a explination. lol

How would I go about doing something like this in photoshop?

All of these things look to me as if they were new selections drawn on new layers, and filled with the desired color. The ones that are transparent look as if the opacity settings were reduced significantly and/or the blend modes changed. I'm guessing the glow effect was some sort of filter, and there are tons of them that you can find as plug-ins that don't come with Photoshop if those don't give the results you like.

Alienskin is one set of filters that are pretty extensive, and this looks like a type of diffuse glow filter to me. This is just my first guessing at this sort of work, as I'm totally unfamiliar with how this type of stuff is done at all!

Without Imageready, I'm afraid all you can do is make the individual frames.

Hi, I'm trying to make a simple 3 screen gif, however, when I put the layers together and play them...they come out great. Then it will not let me save it as a gif file.

Could you please give me a rundown of what to do when starting an animation and when you save it? Do I put all 3 layers together on top of one? That is the part that is confusing me. I did get it to animate beautifully, however I don't know how to save it in gif format. The Optimized area does not save under gif. T_T ...it's sort of difficult for me to put together...

Are you choosing "Save As" or "Save Optimized As"? You need to be choosing "Save Optimized As" in order to get the final animation, give that a try first and let me know.

Well, I think I must be leaving a step out or something...
I opened a new image, and put all three layers down...then I closed the pictures so that the layer I wanted showing would show for a certain amount of time. Then I have to do something right?
It plays beautifully when I push the play button...but what then..?
I tried saving Optimized As...and it offers HTML, HTML and Images and Images Only...there is no gif listed and I'm not sure what I am supposed to do get the gif working without the play button. -_-' Sorry to be a bother...it's got to be difficult giving advise to computer semi-illiterate people like me...

No problem - when you choose Save Optimized As from the File menu, the default file extension is already set for .gif. Ignore the other stuff, including "Images Only" - that's just there to confuse you. Make sure you're saving it to a location you can find easily, that's another headache a lot of people have.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other problems with this!
