I've just watched Waking Life. A very deep movie about philosophy, physics, theology, and so on. I considered writing an entry about some of the thoughts it inspired. I doubt I could do them justice, however, so this is all I've got:
You know coiled cables, like those on the handset of a phone, or coming from a pair of large headphones? Surely you've seen how sometimes the coils get 'reversed', so that coiling is the wrong way around. Can anyone explain to me how this happens? It's just happened to my headphones, and I'm studying the particular coil (As I've done many times in the past while speaking on the phone at work), and I can't figure out for the life of me what physical event occurred to cause this. I don't even understand how it's possible for a standard coil to reconfigure itself in this way...
The mind boggles.
EDIT: Okay, I figured it out. It was pretty obvious in the end. Man, now that I know how to untangle phone cords, my life is going to be so much better, and it's all thanks to Waking Life!
