In which everything breaks down.

I'll admit, the subject sounds kind of emo. It's more literal than that, though. Last night, I tried to play something on my iPod, but it wasn't having it. A little frustrated, I went to sleep, and had a look at it properly in the morning. Turns out that every single song on there had become corrupt and unreadable. Nice. When I got back from work, I had a look inside the folders where the iPod keeps the music, only to find them all completely empty. Ace! I ran Scandisk, which recovered 18GB worth of lost file fragments, which I'm currently copying over to one of my hard drives (33 minutes remaining). When that's done I've got a program to batch convert them all back to (hopefully) usable files, after which I've got a program to rename them. But I'm not copying them all back over. I'm only doing this so I can get those albums I have on my iPod, but nowhere else (Specifically, those I copied from Lydia, like the two Incubus albums, and Kenna's New Sacred Cow). I figure this is as good an opportunity as any to reformat my iPod and start copying my newer albums over first, so that I've got room for them, and I can be more selective about what I put on there this time. It's still a pain in the arse, though. 28 minutes remaining.

There are a lot less people at work now. Most of the people who were employed through agencies have left. I'm pretty lucky to still be there. Maybe I'll get a forth and final week out of it.

Also: Behold the new userpic of greatness. Wizball!

grrr, ipod
