I Won't Sleep if You Won't Sleep
You’re in your room with him sitting beside you, with him pushing you on your back, on the bed, with him kissing you and touching you and loving you like there’s no one else’s feelings that matter.
You’re in your room, happy, having sex at four in the morning.
I’m in my room, thinking about the irony. I laugh, because it is just funny, the way my heart flops around frantically in my open chest, thinking it’s too young to die. I laugh, because I can hear through the walls, and I hear the thuds and the groans and the sighs. I laugh, because I don’t know how else to make a sound that won’t scare the neighbours shitless.
“What’s so funny, Taemin?” you come and ask me, as if you don’t know.
“The TV,” I choke out, still laughing and I point to the wall that connects our rooms and it may as well be made of ply wood, and you know. You know everything.
You look at me apologetically and leave without bothering to say sorry. I don’t have anything to say either, so I just laugh even more.
I fall to the floor, my cheeks are numb.
