Memory Grove Pt Deux!
So after wandering around memory grove for a bit, marveling at the lack of freaks, weirods, and other assorted malevolent charachters, i started hiking north and west into City Creek Canyon.
From the tales i heard about the sinister goings on in Memory Grove, the mouth of the canyon as well as the depths of it, were home to the more bizarre activities.
As one heads into City Creek Canyon, a system of improved trails maintained by various local charities and the City of Salt Lake carries you deeper into the Oak Scrub....However about One mile into the canyon, you're on your own. Maintenance ends and trails roughed out by thousands of dogs, cats, satainists, homos, joggers, drunken bums, bored teens, and soccer moms begin. How thoughtful of them!
The unmaintained, roughed out, meandering trails run another two or so miles until the one i picked out (on the East side of City Creek) abruptly ends--with a fifteen foot foot drop off the side of the bank and into the frigid water.
Along the sides of the creek, both on the maintained and rough, unmaintained there are a series of art installations and benches--some made of stone and others of hefty wooden planks. Some are set and angles, others arranged in a semi circle.
Given enough imagination, creative license, perverse creativity, or deviant thought it is easy to see all sorts of nefarious goings on in the night--Black masses, sacrificial rites, dancing witches, Masters (or Mistresses) and their slaves........
If those poor, innocent high school kids only knew the deviant visions dancing in MY head on THEIR charitably donated park furniture in the hills of Zion....
I only hiked abut half the canyon last night; It got dark before i got too far into the canyon and i had no light source with me.....save a lighter and i am SURE that the City might not enjoy me setting the canyon alight so as to hike by firelight......Although i could be mistaken. (and that would be FUCKING SPECTACULAR!)
Perhaps someday i'll post a written account of those devilish visions......
