Shane's confession

That scene is by far one of my favorites (season 2 episode 8). Heartbreaking. Powerful. Impeccable acting.

"The thing I like about confession is you don't have to see the other person's face. And you don't have to see how-how hurt they are when they realize that you can't be that thing they want you to be."

There is so much in that quote. About society, about identity, about what it means to be "different" -if there is such a thing.

Watch this video and tell me that you don't feel anything, that it doesn't get to you. It has to. Gay or straight. It has to.

"The L Word?? YOU watch The L Word??! Ewwww! It's for lesbians!!"
It's not. The show transcends the barrier of sexes. I mean, the themes that are discussed are exactly the same as in any other relationship-oriented TV show.

Of course then it's only a question of whether or not as a woman you will be able to watch two women kissing and having sex.
I never thought I would. Honestly, it disgusted me a little.
Well, newsflash. You know what? In the end, it's just sex.

And then this summer, because there was nothing interesting on TV, I went on YouTube and typed "L Word" out of curiosity, and because one of my closest friends -who is straight, by the way, told me that she was addicted to this show. I looked at her like o_0 But my curiosity got the best of me, as always. One YouTuber had had the AWESOME idea -although I'm not sure it was legal- to post the entire first season -one episode was usually divided into 8 or 9 parts. All I can say is THANK YOU.
Now I'm suffering from withdrawal, waiting for season 5. I am actually re-watching all the seasons, which I happen to have on DivX.
Did I mention that I live in San Francisco right now? No? Because that might have had an influence on the way I see things, and on the way I approach the show. It opened my eyes. The City is special in that way.

ANYway, this scene with Shane makes me feel so sad.

Look at us. Things like that shouldn't be happening. And yet they do. All the time. People should have the right to be who they are and whoever they want without the rest of the world constantly judging them and expecting them to behave a certain way.
