he intimates that he knew she was dying when she took the tabs....before the crash....

Are you sure? My take was that when we saw House in the bar and then on the bus with Amber, some of the things we saw had actually happened (e.g. House insisting on extra drinks, getting on the bus without Amber) and others took the form of a commentary that he was adding later for Wilson's benefit, during the head thingy procedure.

For instance, I didn't think he looked closely at Amber's hanky after she'd blown her nose in *real* time: I thought he was doing that as an observer within his own memories, and that he was taking a look because by that time he suspected that the sneezing/snotting might have a diagnostic significance.

Similarly, when he watched her take the pills and said "Don't do it" I thought that was House the ex post facto observer, who by that time knew that Amber was about to sustain serious kidney damage that would prevent her inner bits doing teh safe thing with the meds.

Is that what you were thinking of? My take might well be totally wrong, btw: it often is :) Still, though: that's how it struck me. It was all a bit confusing, because at various times we saw both House and Amber performing the actions they'd performed on the night, whereas at other times we saw each of them making an appearance of one sort or another within the 'replay' of the night's events.

**is exhausted after all that thinking**

Um...
