Well I really didn't see how it might be possible for the writers to pull this series round, in the light of the damage they seemed to have done since... well, 3x1, basically! But I now take back all those unworthy thoughts :)
Doris Egan is GOD! :)
There's so much great stuff that I won't attempt to go over it all, but the bits that truly made my little fan-girly heart pound were the following, I reckon :)
1. My favourite part of the whole episode was actually that bit in the exhibition between Cuddy and Wilson, where Wilson accidentally let slip that in his mind the evening was a date. "Not... not that this is a date. Obviously." *Loves Inept Wilson* :) The wonderful expression on Cuddy's face when she told him she didn't think she'd ever seen him embarrassed before , and the way she said "Wow" with that laugh in her voice -- (it reminded me of the voice she used on the Blooper when she and JM were doing those skit thingies) -- and then the way he looked when he realised there was absolutely no way out! *omg... simply expires at the memory of it*
*is miraculously reincarnated*
Anyway, that has to rank amongst my top 5 memories of the entire 3 series! *spends a few minutes re-watching it a few more times* Guh.... :)
2. The fantastic stuff between House and the intriguing, and actually quite endearing, ex-wife no.2. Aagh! I'm so glad they didn't make her a monster :) All that lovely stuff with House trying to find out all about Wilson -- "What was it like dating him?" -- :-))) Quite superb! And all that fascinating insight into Wilson, and the confirmation that he's not some sort of cynical panty-peeler, just sprinting into women's beds. Calibrating his protectiveness, was it? Guh again, and Again and AGAIN!
3. "It's got 6 burners." And the look on House's face :)
4. The argument between Bonnie and House, where she accused him of being partly responsible for the failure of her marriage? Wonderful stuff *again*!
5. The two coffee moments - hands so close! House drinking Wilson's coffee -- Wilson not even reacting. House pinging Wilson's ear! *is almost squeed out, here*
6. Wilson sitting up with House and falling asleep in his chair. *melts* It's so wonderful to have them back as part of the furniture of each other's lives :) Just *there*, and expected to be there because it's simply what they *do*, with no comment needing to be made between them.
7. And House takes in Wilson's dog? Well that was just the final word, I thought :) Naturally Wilson will have to be there all the time to play with Hector, and his House :)
8. I thought Foreman was absolutely awesome in this episode. The fellows are normally just window-dressing for me, but I almost shed a tear for poor Foreman last night. It was genuinely moving, I thought. I'm so glad to be able to take an interest in him finally. I'm fond of Chase now because Alex's P.L.O.T. device made me look at him in a different way. Perhaps there's still hope for me and Cameron? Hmmm... well, after the last few episodes I reckon almost anything is possible :)
9. I loved the "things are sometimes simpler than they appear/don't overlook the obvious" message. Naturally my slashy little heart can't help but extrapolate :)
10. I loved all the touching going on. House touching Wilson! Flicking his ear; almost/maybe touching his hand when he took his coffee; hands almost meeting again when Wilson handed him the cup. Wilson showing Forman how to touch a patient for best effect? *is speechless* Bonnie kissing Wilson. Foreman and his mother. Yummy stuff :)
11. And almost finally, I loved The Return of the Sweater Vest! Cuddy wore one, and near the beginning it looked as though Foreman might have been wearing one too. I lost track after that - my head was spinning from all the HoYay and *squee* and sub-textual loveliness :)
12. Oh, and House calling Wilson "James"! I squee-ed so hard when Wilson called himself James to Robin that I almost fell out of my chair, and I *loved* hearing the James word trip so easily out of House's mouth when he was talking to Cuddy. I can't bear the idea of House ever calling Wilson 'James' to his face (wee pukelet), but I do like to think of him *thinking* of Wilson as James, even in the context in which he said it :)
Sigh... well I reckon that's about it, and those were only the Very Best Bits!
I'm truly so happy that they seem to have turned things around. So many peeps have been so unhappy at the demise of not only House/Wilson but basically all the love and fun and magic during Series 3. It just goes to show how easy it is for them to make things right if they try :) (Actually, I reckon that devious!Wilson must still be re-writing the episodes.)
It's hard to believe that there are only 3 episodes left :( I'm trying very hard to remain completely unspoiled, so I've no idea what's coming up. I hope it carries on in this vein, though :)
p.s. Chase and Cameron were good too :)
