Argh...what a weekend.
Here was the plan:
Go down to Fort Myers early Friday morning and spend the day with my mom and maybe do something with the horses, then go to dinner with my parents. Take my parents and grandparents to the airport at 4am Saturday, get some more sleep, then go out to Jackie's; help her with chores, do a feed run, go pick up my horses from my parents' house and bring them to her barn, Give sheba and pee-wee baths, do evening chores and then go out to belatedly celebrate my birthday. Then, go home early on Sunday, clean the house for my mom while finishing up laundry, pack everything up, and go to Amanda's around 10 or 11 and spend the whole day there, and come home around 8 or 9.
Did it work that way? Nope. Not even close.
Friday went alright...I didn't get down to Fort Myers 'til about 1, but that was because I wanted to clean the house up so Sam didn't have to come home to a mess after a long day in the lab, and that was fine because my mom and I still had time to hang out. Then we went to dinner, which was nice. I had trouble sleeping, and as it turns out we had to leave the house at 3 for the airport, not get up at 4, and then for some reason it took me forever to fall back asleep when I got home around 4:30. I got about another hour of sleep before I went to Jackie's. Morning chores usually go pretty quick, but Friday night Monster broke out of his field and terrorized the geldings, then broke through their field and went frolicking with the mares. I figure if a stallion had to get out, it's good it was him, because he's sterile, and maybe he got to have a bit of fun for once in his life. So when I got out there, Jackie was trying to catch him, and had already hosed off 4 horses who had goten overheated running around in the excitement. Of course, he wouldn't let her catch him, so I had to bring one of the mares out of the barn to try to lure him in. Even with that it was a bit before she got hold of him, and then we had to hose him off as well because he was drenched in sweat and breathing hard. So that already put us behind schedule. We went to Futrals for feed and stuff, and it took a while to get all of that unloaded. Then we needed to fix Monster's fence, as well as the geldings' fence. We stapled his fence back up, and then we had to replace a bunch of insulators on the gelding fence and restring the hotwire. Then we went to pick up Pee-Wee and Sheba, which thankfuly didn't take too long - they got right in the trailer for Jackie. When we got back, we were over 2 hours behind schedule, and we still had to sink a fence post and put up a section of wood fence in Monster's field to keep him from just pushing the wire off again. On top of all that, I kept getting hurt in stupid little ways. By the time we finished all of the evening chores it was past 10pm, too late to bother trying to go out. So instead we sat inside and watched Hidalgo, and got Lyndsay to come hang out with us.
Sunday I had to give Sheba her bath and get Pee-wee taken care of because I hadn't had time Saturday. By the time I finished with them, cleaned up and got home, it was about 12:30, and I still had laundry and the house to clean. I was overheated and ended up spending quite some time just being sick and trying to cool off. I decided not to clean the house because I was too weak and shaky and still felt sick, even though I could have used the extra cash, and instead went to Amanda's around 3:30. Instead of scrapbooking we lazed around, watched Empire Records, and then made little fried dough balls covered in sugar (I have no idea what they're called). It felt good to relax for a little bit...I needed it. I left there shortly after 7, and by the time I packed up my laundry and other stuff, washed the mud off of my dad's truck, cleaned out the horse water tank and flipped it over so it wouldn't breed mosquitos all summer, it was after 8...so I got home a little after 10.
Sam and I watched Family Guy, and he fell asleep during the Simpsons, so I went to sleep too. I hope we can have some good relaxing time toninght...we could both use some down time together.
All in all, what was supposed to be my nice fun weekend ended up being mostly stress and exhaustion, though Jackie said we should be used to having our plans screwed up, and should know better than to plan anything at all. Oh well, I'll most likely go down there for four or five days when classes are over, and I'll get a chance to spend more time with Amanda and Jackie, and not feel so rushed. Tony is going on some seminar for work for three days at the end of July, so I figure I'll go stay with Amanda while he's gone in case she goes into labor at that time. It'll be fun :)
Alright, I've rambled enough...time to get back to work.
