Sims 3 Headcanon

Feb 01, 2010 02:27

I went looking on FFN to see if they even had a Sims section and it appears they do. It seems pretty inclusive - all Sims games in the same section - but it's there. I also found one S3 fic there, but it's about the Landgrabbs and it's written both Nancy Landgrabb's, and Gunther Goth's marriages as not all that good, with a definite interest on Nancy's part in Gunther.

I really must check some time, when I'm playing the Goth lot to see how Lolita shows in Gunther's social panel - that fic cast her as his first wife... which really rubs me the wrong way because I'd rather not think of Cornelia as second best.

Anyway, it got me thinking about my own headcanon and I think I need to write as much of it out as I can.

First off, the main plot variations:

There are two main plot variants, the one where the Goths move out of town, and the one where they don't.

No matter which, Mort and Bella have been friends since their first day at school. Before then, while their families may have been acquainted, they didn't move in the same social circles - the Goths are Old Money, the Bachelors are Middle Class. This changes with the two kids going to school - Bella, being bold and confident, asks Mort outright if they could be friends. He agrees and it goes from there.

The two become best friends and the situation ends up that if Bella isn't at Mort's house, then Mort is most likely at Bella's.
At the age of 7, one of them hears something about the best marriages being between couples who are best friends with each other, and after discussing it between themselves agree that when they grow up, they'll get married.

I should note that in all variations, I have given a number of significant characters magical abilities. Details of the magic system are included below, but suffice to say, Bella and Mort have powers that are a direct match to each other.

At the age of 8, someone in town gets married and both the Goth family and the Bachelor family are invited. In the aftermath of that, Bella and Mort decide they want to guarantee that they can't be separated and do an impromptu handfasting to bind themselves to each other.

It's after this that things split into the two major plots.

In the plot where the Goths stay in Sunset Valley, the two kids grow up normally, slowly developing a romantic relationship. There's a few problems, such as my perennial interfering OC, Daniel wanting to get Bella for himself, but otherwise it's pretty straight forward.

The other plot, the Goths leaving, is the major one.

Due to reasons involved in Gunther's job, the Goths move town to the other side of the country (I tend to place all the sim towns in America - except the vacation towns, of course). The family manor is put in dust sheets and a weekly visit by a maid is scheduled, but otherwise it stands empty, waiting until the family can come back (given that the Goths were the founding family of Sunset Valley, I cannot see Gunther willing to sell up his holdings there).

Before leaving however, Mort takes an heirloom ring of the Crumplebottom family from his mother's jewellery box and gives it to Bella - as an engagement ring. The story behind this ring is somewhat significant, it belonged to a Crumplebottom wife several generations back, who gave it to her son, to give to the girl he was in love with, as an engagement ring. It became a family tradition - the mother would give the ring to her eldest son when he wanted to marry, so he could give it to his love as an engagement ring.
This carried through until Cornelia, who, given that her generation of the Crumplebottom family consisted of only herself and Agnes, her younger sister, Prudence gave Cornelia the ring when Corni gave birth to Mortimer, telling her that when Mort grew up, she would carry on the tradition and give him the ring to give to his girlfriend.
Since Mort had known this story since early childhood, he thought it appropriate to give the ring to Bella - he just skipped the stage where Corni would give it to him and took it without Corni knowing.

This happens when Bella and Mort are at the age of 12. Mort's little sister, Antoinette (an OC child that I have always seen to the birth of in my games) is about 6.

Bella and Mort keep in contact via internet chat over the next few years, and when holidays and business trips work out favourably, they meet up in person. I have at least two of these meet-ups vaguely thought out - a holiday the Bachelors take to Los Angeles coincides with a business trip/holiday the Goths take to the same city. Bella and Mort make a point of meeting up and spending as much of the time that they are both in town together. Another trip, the year after, is to New York. Again to two teens work out to spend as much time together as possible.

One minor factor: The Yaslana twins. They only became twins a couple of days ago when I went in to do a bit of reworking of Kyla and ended up making her a twin brother, Kyle.
Kyla started out as one of my housekeeper sims for the Goth family in one iteration of the game, married to Marty Keaton before I merged them with the Goths. Kyla is about the only sim I have deleted the base sim that I have recreated - that is because I think the original Kyla was a makeover of one of the stock sim designs in CAS, so it was easy to remake her from that stock sim. I will never be able to do that for Alana Initia or Nathaniel Not-A-Vampire-But-Really-A-Truck Cullen (I miss them, especially Nathaniel).

Kyla has since taken a place in headcanon as a highschool friend of Mort's while he's living in Pleasentview. Kyle has only just wiggled his way into that, as Kyla's somewhat crazy, emotional, campier-that-the-Sydney-Mardi-Gras, bisexual twin brother, who has a huge crush on Mort. Actually, both twins have a thing for Mort, but Kyla is a bit more circumspect about how she expresses hers than Kyle is.

They're also sleeping together. The twins, that is, though teenage experimentation means both of them do end up sleeping with Mort as well. No, the game doesn't allow incest, it's just a strange turn my head has taken, which I blame on looking at the Wikipedia articles for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (particularly the Ultimate X-Men sections), and on the Hyperbole twins.

Anyway, Mort goes off to university and after, puts his foot down with his father and insists he is returning to Sunset Valley.

So Mort returns to his hometown at the age of 22, and the first thing he does after settling into the manor is call the Bachelor house to talk to Bella, only Bella is out for the evening with some of her closest girlfriends, but Rachel (Michael Bachelor's wife and Bella's sister-in-law) knows where they were headed and tells Mort where.

So Mort heads off to the club that Bella and her friends are at, scoping the place out from the bar. He gains the notice of one of Bella's companions, Anna (OC with no in-game sim), who goes into a tizzy about the gorgeous guy at the bar and trying to psych herself up to go over and chat with him. Kaylynn [Langerak - canon sim] takes a look at who Anna is going nuts about, and being Bella's closest friend, an old friend of Mort's, and having been over at Bella's place enough times while Bella was on video chat with Mort, she recognises him instantly and prods an uninterested Bella into looking.
Of course, Bella's disinterest vanishes the instant she knows the guy Anna is going on about is actually Mortimer and before Anna can mobilise herself, Bella goes over to the bar. She does get propositioned by a drunk guy at the bar, next to Mort, but Mort tells him to back off.

The two get out on the dance floor when one of Bella's favourite songs starts, and dance, managing to co-ordinate so well they draw the attention of the whole place to them. Afterwards, they leave quick and end up down at the beach, where they spend most of the rest of the night wandering and talking, only heading back to Goth Manor as the first hints of dawn are making themselves known.

This plot also has it's fair share of upsets - Anna, the friend who was going to approach Mort but was beaten to the punch by Bella, gets really pissy over it, and starts trying to cause trouble in the guise of being concerned about Bella.

That however is nothing compared to the trouble Daniel Dillinger causes.

I finally have made a sim for Daniel, and given him a surname, though I'm not likely to ever play him. In fact, the use I made of that sim was to kill him off in hopes of triggering the Ghost-O-Tron opportunity.

Daniel has a far bigger place in headcanon though, he is a boy who comes to Sunset Valley when Bella is about 14, and almost instantly develops a crush on her and ignores the fact that she brushes him off as nicely as she can. He also ignores anyone who tries to tell him he's got no chance with her. It helps none that, when there's a school prom when they are 15, Bella agrees to go with him, accepting him because he seems like the only option in her circle of friends that won't be stepping on anyone's toes (like Malcom Landgrabb had already asked Holly Alto, and Kaylynn had laid claim to Miraj Alvi). That date solidified Daniel's idea that he and Bella were Meant To Be and he refused to listen to any words otherwise.

Of course, when it becomes public that Bella has reunited with Mortimer Goth, Daniel sees him as an interloper, trying to steal Bella's affections away, and failing to accept that Mort actually has prior claim to said affections.

In the middle of this, the Yaslana twins arrive in Senset Valley and manage to track down Mortimer quite quickly, also managing to charm their way into Bella's friendship, and eventually becoming two of the couple's staunchest defenders against anyone trying to cause them problems.

The situation with Daniel comes to a head at Bella and Mort's wedding, where he's managed to call on several high-powered mages to put a stop to the wedding. It however goes wrong for him because these mages - the Red Fae Council (more detail below) - end up taking Bella's side, because the information Daniel had told them, they judged to false (Daniel of course, told them his twisted view of the situation, which he believed to be the truth). It ends up with Daniel challenging Mortimer to a duel, but it being Bella who ends up fighting him.

In the end, the members of the Red Fae Council present pass judgement on Daniel and strip him of his powers.

Now this is the most predominant version, but there are always minor variants that change small sections.

In all of this, I made up my own magic system, which is partly based on the favourite colours of the sims in the game, and partly the colours I dress them.

The system is based on ley lines. There isn't just one type of ley, there are many, and they are differentiated by colour.

There is also a special type of magic user who tap into the ley lines to do magic. Because the leys come in differing colours, these magic users have colour alignments that dictate which colour leys they can access.

Then there are the lords of the leys - special mages who don't just tap into the lines to power their magic, but are the ones who keep the leys stable and in order. Each of them has a colour they major in, and one the minor in.

The Ley Lords of Sunset Valley are only a small proportion of this group - Sunset Valley is odd because it is on top of a meeting point of a large number of the Mono-chromic leys - the Black, Grey and White leys. Because of this, Sunset Valley is the gathering place of most of the Monochromic Lords - those of the Ley Lords who major in Black, Grey or White.

The Chromic Ley Lords are more commonly known as the Fae. In times past, the Chromic Lords were all Elven, but the elves have interbred with humans so much that they are no longer a truly separate race anymore. Still, those Ley Mages that major in one of the chromic networks are considered to be Fae, because they can almost always find some elven blood in their family lines, if they go looking.

That is not to say that Sunset Valley is totally without Fae, just that with the predominance of monochromic leys in the town, it tends not to be a comfortable place for fae to live.

So far the colour alignments I have worked out are as follows (Major/Minor - one man and one woman for each combination):

Gunther Goth - Black/Grey
Cornelia Goth - Black/Purple
Mortimer Goth - Black/Red
Antoinette Goth - White/Blue

The Goth family have alway favoured the Black. That Mort came out as a Black is no surprise but that Ani turned out White is.
The Crumplebottoms tend to be Grey but the occasional Black came up.

Yillina Istillyn - Blue/Grey
Yillina is fae - a strongly elven woman who was the Goth's housekeeper before they moved out of town.
(OC character. Original version was named Azure Istillyn, but every incarnation has been a housekeeper sim for Goth Manor).

Agnes Crumplebottom - Grey/Brown
Jamie Crumplebottom (Neé Jolina) - White/Pink
Maud Crumplebottom - Grey/Pink

Agnes, being a Crumplebottom is not unusual for being a Grey. Jamie grew up elsewhere and moved to Sunset after getting a job at the hospital. Maud manages to inherit her colours from both, taking Agnes's major and Jamie's minor.
(First time around I had ideas of pairing Agnes with one of the males sims in the town, but Jamie caught my fancy. Maud is the usual name I give their daughter.)

Nancy Landgrabb - Grey/White
Geoffrey Landgrabb - White/Grey
Malcom Landgrabb - White/White

Being double monochromic, the Landgrabbs have held the High Council with an iron fist - a necessity with the Altos always causing trouble. Nancy's family have always had light leys as their alignments. Malcom is the first High Lord born into the family, and a great pride to both of his parents.

Nick Alto - Black/Brown
Vita Alto - Grey/Red
Holly Alto - White/White
Remus Alto - Grey/Grey

That the White Lady would somehow come from a Black and a Grey is even more of a shock than the usually dark Goths having a White daughter.
(Remus is based on a sim that was born while I was playing a different house. I like the name, so he's part of headcanon.)

Thorton Wolff - Black/Black
Morgana Wolff - Black/White

Thorton has, for a long time, been the highest ranking member of the Sunset High Council. With the coming of age of both the Lord and Lady of the White (as White is usually considered hoigher rank than Black), and the arrival of his counterpart, the Black Lady Shao-Lin, he has been a little restless in his position.

Simis Bachelor - Grey/Brown
Jocasta Bachelor - Orange/Yellow
Michael Bachelor - Grey/Green
Bella Bachelor - Red/Black

Simis' family are also long time Greys as far back as can be tracked. Jocasta is not a Ley Lady - she doesn't control the leys, just draws from them - but her fae heritage is just enough to have produced a fae daughter in Bella.

Kaya Analei - Brown/Grey
Irina Analei - Pink/Black
Rachel Analei - Grey/Purple
Ninian Analei - Black/White

The Analeis are new-comers to Sunset - a family with a strong fae background, but Kaya, the family matriarch, though it best if Rachel and Ninian, both monochromic, should grow up in a town with a strong monochromic presence. Irina didn't care too much, but then she has always been an inattentive mother - most of the raising of Irina's children has actually been done by Kaya, while Irina has been off having fun, partying.
(In my first or second game there was a family of random-spawned sims who moved in, by the name of Foust. I took a liking to Rachel Foust and ended up marrying her off to Michael Bachelor. It wasn't until after I had to scrap that game and start over that I realised the Fousts were random-generated sims, so I made up a new version of Rachel myself, naming her Rachel Analei. I put her in a starter house and left her because I was still playing other houses, but later found she had come under the effects of an early glitch in the game that allowed single sims to have babies with no other parent - what I called "single parent syndrome". After that game was lost, I remade Rachel but decided to make her a teen, which meant she needed a parent, and ended up making both her mother and grandmother. Ninian ended up as Rachel's brother.)

Kaylynn Langerak - White/Grey
Miraj Alvi - Grey/White

Kaylynn is a Ley Lady who, though her family can channel the leys, has never had a Lord or Lady before.
Miraj's family tend to be Grey but he is the first Lord in his direct line for a long time.
The relationship between these two is one where Kaylynn is, by far, the dominant one. She was the one who asked Miraj on a date first, she was the one who pushed things forward almost every time. Somehow it works for them.

Daniel Dillinger - White/Red

Daniel may or may not have a grandmother who is an old witch.
(A total OC, existed in headcanon before a sim was ever made.)

Kyle Andraeus - Grey/Red
Vincent Andraeus - Red/Black

Kyle is another new-comer to the town. He became a father soon after his arrival.
(In an attempt to make a new male OC after realising that I'd totally lost Nathaniel, I ended up making Kyle. The name Andraeus is also Mortimer Goth's middle name in headcanon. Vincent was the result of Single Parent Syndrome.)

Mimi Sardinia - Blue/White

A strange one, who lives right on the beach.
(My self-sim. See the post's icon. I intend to eventually have her steal Morgana from Thorton.)

Emma Hollins - Black/Red
Shao-Lin Hollins - Black/Black

A pair of sisters who moved to town a year before Mort's return.
(agiftedmind's two self-sims. I actually rang her and asked her what colours she'd like them aligned to. I had to reassign Vita's colours to get Emma in as Black/Red, but the Black Lady spot was empty for Shao-Lin to take - and I'd already put her in it before I rang 'Cade.)

Kyla Yalsana - Yellow/Green
Kyle Yaslana - Green/Yellow

Highschool friend of Mort's with a strong elven streak in them.
(As said above, Kyla was originally a housekeeper sim - like Yillina - but got assigned as Mort's highschool friend in headcanon. Kyle is very new but has taken a position at his sister's side instantly.)

And lastly, a little geography.

I mentioned that I tend to think of the towns in the Sims as being in America. I feel I should elaborate a little.

The towns in question are those in S2 and in S3.

Sunset Valley
Home town of the Goths, the Landgrabbs, the Crumplebottoms and the Bachelors. The town was founded by the Goths, built by the Landgrabbs, helped run by the Crumplebottoms. Then the Altos came in, trying to wend their way into society. The first big incident was when Simon Crumplebottom refused to have any dealings with Nick Alto. Nick got offended and he and Vita set out to destroy Simon, eventually backrupting the Crumplebottom family.

They did have one safety net - Cornelia was newly married to Gunther at the time and Victor, a long-time friend of Simon's, took Simon, Prudence and Agnes in.

Nick and Vita took glee in buying the Crumplebottom house and having it demolished to build their own.

Since then, the Goths and the Landgrabbs have been doing everything they can to block Nick and Vita's progress in taking control of the town.

I imagine Sunset to be somewhere in southern Oregon. It has to be on the West coast because the sun sets over the sea.

Pleasantview
Where Gunther's job took him and his family. Home of the Yaslana twins.

By default, Pleasentview would be on the east coast. It has to be far enough away that it's too far to just visit for either Bella or Mort. My headcanon does not include any events of S2, even if it does include the S2 towns.

Veronaville
The New World haven of the Fae, it was founded by the elven lords themselves, looking to make a place for elvenkind in the Americas. Since then, it has become more and more human, as elvenkind have become more and more interbred with humanity.
It is located somewhere not far from Pleasantview, and due to such, Pleasantview has a quite a strong fae strain.

Strangetown
A town somewhere in the desert areas, like Nevada, Colarado, New Mexico, or Texas.

Belladonna Cove
A west coast town, further south than Sunset - down around the Los Angeles area.

Riverside Hills
East coast town.

Desiderata Valley
Never decided.

Riverview
Never decided.

Twinbrook
Somewhere in the southern east coast - maybe even in Florida.

Bridgeport
East coast - medium-sized city just south of Sunset.
