More newness!

Amanda (Jasmine) again, and as promised, I proudly present to you Commodore James Norrington of PotC fame. You may call him James. or Norrington. Do not under any circumstances call him Commodore, or any variation of Jim, Jimmy, Jiminy Cricket, Jamie, or the like. And for the love of all that is holy, if you value your safety, do not mention pirates. Not that this is likely to come up in everyday conversation, but y'know.

His bio, as copy-and-pasted from his profile because I am le tired:

For as long as he could remember, James Norrington wanted to be a sailor. His father, Lawrence Norrington, was a Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy; as such, everyone had high expectations for young James. He was promoted to Lieutenant very early in his career, and then became one of the youngest Commodores in recent history. That, unfortunately, was about the point at which everything began to fall apart.

Heartbroken by a failed engagement, he threw himself into his work, determined to reclaim what he saw as an affront to his honor by taking on increasingly dangerous risks. Eventually, thanks to his stubbornness and blind drive for glory and something meaningful in his life, he sealed his own fate. While on a patrol in the South Pacific, his crew came under attack by pirates. Commodore Norrington engaged them in combat without flinching, and once the pirates were defeated, he became known as the Scourge of the Seas. Kind of. Or maybe that was just in his head. At any rate, believing he'd found his new calling, he embarked on a special assignment, hunting down and destroying pirate operations in the Near East. Then, suddenly, everything went wrong. A certain band of pirates continued to elude him, leading him on a wild chase from one port to the next. Against his crew's advice and even against his own better judgment, he pushed them on through a wicked storm in the Mediterranean when he learned the pirates were hiding out in Tripoli. By the time the Commodore realized his fatal mistake, it was too late. The HMS Endeavour, along with most of her crew, were lost at sea. Angry at himself and grieving for the loss of his men, Norrington resigned his commission and retired from the Royal Navy.

For most, that would be where the story ends. Not for Norrington. Driven half-mad by the need to vindicate himself and avenge his fallen comrades, he still relentlessly pursues pirates -- on his own terms. Of course, pirates are rather hard to find on land, so mostly he just drinks a lot and gets into fights, purposely seeking out disreputable bars and neighbourhoods in an attempt to catch would-be (or actual) criminals.

Although currently based in London, Norrington is not attached to any specific port; he tends to go from one place to another every few months or even weeks, drifting from place to place in a blind, fruitless effort to find himself and, if he can, reclaim what he has lost.

Again, looking forward to playing with you guys! :)

!new, #james
