Walkin' on Sunshine

So far, it'd been a good day. Classes were over at noon, he had the rest of the day off and absolutely nothing else to do. The borders were open, supplies were coming and going--granted, with a bit of weirdness--and the mail was still working.

The Seven of Spades was currently sitting on his latest delivery, having just returned from an ( Read more... )

"Doesn't anyone like cars anymore?" It's an important question. Jordan likes his car. And since he had to spend an arm and a leg fixing the precious after his accident this fall, well, he figured he might as well throw more money at it and make it faster than Clive's car.

"Between you and Hadyn, I'm surrounded by bikes."

"Oh, I love cars," Ethan told him, nodding in greeting. "But had to leave all of mine behind, so. Next best thing?" And if he ever needed decent transportation Outside, he knew exactly where to find it. "Christmas present. To me."

"The best kind." You generally knew what you wanted, after all. And Jordan might prefer the Mustang, but he still eyes Ethan's bike with appreciation. "Taken it out for a test-spin to make sure it goes to the speeds advertised?"

Everyone does that, right?

"Every morning this week." He had to chuckle, a bit darkly. "I'm surprised I haven't been slapped with a noise ordinance already." An eyebrow waggled. "Hard to imagine the brass getting soft in their old ages, isn't it?"

Because he didn't bother caring about "waking the neighbors" on those hellfire runs; concern about propriety he'd left behind some seven months or so ago.

Well, well, well. What is this shiny new fun thing that someone is making a lot of noise with? Leona raised a brow high as she stepped out into the street and looked over Ethan's new toy.

"You know, people are Sleeping still, Sunshine. They don't take well to the rooster calls in the morning."

"Ask me if I give a damn, cuddlebunny," was the quipped reply, coupled with a smirk and a wink. He was having a good day, by damn, and nothing short of Julien boiling out of a hole somewhere brandishing a kitchen knife looking for his guts was going to ruin it.

--and that might not even do it.

"It's daylight. Everybody should be up and getting to work. This place doesn't run itself, Leona." His smirk tilted slyly. "Look at it this way; I'm helping 'em save on alarm batteries."

"Oh, is that what you are doing? I'll have you know I do not subscribe to the early to rise theory. I have no need for worms." She smiled though as she moved a little closer.

"I prefer...snuggling up in bed for as long as I can."

He smirked and held out an arm for her to snug under, if she so wished. "Ah, but we're all bereft of your lovely face then, mia cara. The entire world just pines away for lack of such radiance."

She liked mornings. Always had. And late nights. Pretty much all the times people stayed in, instead of ruining the nice, pretty outdoors. Of course, if it's the right people, she doesn't really mind, so much. And Ethan's found himself a tiny place on her good list after that last ride. Which is why instead of looking affronted at the noise or the waking people up (because waking them up meant some of them would be looking for her sooner), she's leaning against a nearby fencepost and almost smiling. Almost.

"Barty's gonna get jealous."

Ethan pulled off his helmet and raked hands through his damp hair, shaking his head. Hearing her, he glanced up and smiled. "A little bit, maybe. But I don't plan on letting him get fat and lazy again, so never fear."

In a fabulous mood, he held out a hand and crooked a finger at her. "Vieni a trovarmi, mia cara." He felt wonderfully light-hearted and wanted to share a bit of comforting affection, a good morning hug.

"Good. He's already started mooching carrots from me when I go visit Siri. Guess you'll have to ride extra to make up for it." There's a very clear look of suspicion on her face as he beckons her over, and it takes a moment for her arms to uncross as she pushes away from the post. It isn't the foreign language that gets that face. She understands Italian fairly well, after all, even if she refuses to speak it aloud anywhere anyone might hear and possibly tell her mother. Paranoid, sure, but, well. Spade child with a domineering mother. No, the suspicion was for that look on his face. He was going to be affectionate at her, wasn't he?

"What for?"

"I don't have a knife up my sleeve, relax," he told her with a skewed eyebrow, but a grin still threatening. "Although, I do think I still have some candy in my jacket pockets..."

Piper had been down in the armory of late, looking for treats.
