[OTA] Casual Sketches

Elisha isn't in his office. He's not in his rooms, either, or his studio for that matter. If someone was looking for the King of Clubs, they'd have to go through all the usual suspects and some of the more unusual ones - the training rooms, the kitchens, the offices of the other Club Faces - before they came across him in a secluded corner of Club ( Read more... )

"Did you know that a house has wedged itself between Cafe De'mond and Quintin's Gadgets." Hadyn said as he finally found Elisha. Curiously he leaned in to see what Elisha was sketching, before smirking a little settling down next time him.

"They were a bit stumped as to when and how it happened."

"Mm. Elani's boyfriend's neighbors now have a cottage in their backyard." He'd heard all about it. "Has anyone gone in?" He's hoping not, but he doesn't have a whole lot of faith.

Humans were human that way.

"I don't know, actually. Unlike everyone else, I decided gawking was not very useful." He smirked a little, resting his head against Elisha's shoulder as he sighed a bit.

"I spoke to my Uncle a bit ago."

Elisha smoothed his fingers over Hadyn's hair and set down his pencil before flipping the sketchbook shut.

"Davin?" He asked. It wasn't as though Davin Bernard was Hadyn's only uncle, after all, though he often seemed to be the only one who much involved himself. "What about?"

"Mm-hmm." Hadyn said with a brief nod of his head. "He thinks...I should take some time off Deck to 'find myself'." Hadyn said softly, before sighing a little.

"Alone. He thinks it will help me decide what I want..." Instead of doing what everyone else wanted him to do.

"Ah, the Grand Tour." Which was a bit of a sardonic way of putting it, but his own grand adventure away from the military - to figure himself out, when he was just Hadyn's age - had gone extremely badly.

"You do need to decide what you want," he said. "And getting away is one way to do it. But is that what you want to do?"

"I wish people would stop asking me 'is that what you want', and then follow it up with 'are you sure'. I don't know what I want, about anything...Which is sort of the problem." No that he was going to be mean about it, but it was true.

"I don't know what I am supposed to do if I go. He went on about all these things, and I just..." Was at a loss. How did riding a bus help someone find themselves? Or sleeping in a hotel, alone? He didn't understand any of that, really.

Elisha smiled a little bit at that, tipping his head to one side. "I think being alone is supposed to force you to think about it," he said. "Without distractions. But it only works if you think it will, and if you're comfortable with the idea." And Hadyn hadn't gone Outside much. It was odd, how few of the Deckborns ever did, considering how easy it was to do.

"Do you think I should go?" Which may have been what Davin was trying to get at right then and there- Hadyn turning to others to make the choices for him. It was just the big things, really- he could pick a sandwich to eat, pick a play to watch, so forth. But then it came to life altering decisions? He just froze, stuck in the land of 'what if'.

"Henry wouldn't like it." Considering he was trying to help narrow down Hadyn's next production already.

"I can't tell you that." He'd been making a concerted effort, after all, not to mother and nag with Hadyn. "But it didn't really help me that much when I tried to 'find myself' that way." Still, they weren't the same people, Elisha thought. And while he wouldn't want Hadyn to go...

He did want him to be happy.

"You know that I consider 'Henry wouldn't like it' to be an argument in favor of something, don't you?"

"I guess I could go...For a couple of weeks." Maybe to France, so he could learn more about the place he was supposedly from when it came to Elisha's family. Even if he didn't learn anything about himself while there- He could learn something helpful.

"Just a couple a weeks, or so."

Elisha nodded at that, and he didn't even sigh. "I'll miss you," he admitted, though. "Bring me back something?"

There was no harm, after all, in getting away from all of this. Just for a bit.

"I'll try not to be gone forever, then." He said softly, before smirking just a little and tipping his head ever slightly away from Elisha.

"I'll try to think up something suitable to bring you. Or just text you pictures of myself in random places."

"Naked pictures?" He was joking, of course, or teasing, at least, and that was clear from the curve to his lips. "A better view of the Champs Elysees than most of them."

He would miss Hadyn, but...he supposed he could use the extra time to try to figure out a way out of this problem they were in. Or worry about the other things he worried about before Hadyn.

"We should drag Victor and Zoe out for dinner before you go. I haven't heard 'Your Majesty' in every sentence for a while."
