This whole defunct gate business had been rather inconvenient to say the least, causing Archie to miss several appointments he'd had with patients Outside. Silly, foolish gate. Did it not realise that people had better things to do than play games with it?
This morning, however, good news arrived in the shape of a harried research assistant and the two of them had spent all morning getting Doctor Valerian caught up on OM business. After lunch, the messenger was gone again, taking with him instructions and messages from Archie.
The Spade himself would follow later this week, after taking care of some Deck business he'd been passing time with.
Having spent all morning in an undisturbed part of the castle, he was quite surprised to step outside and find the world not quite as he remembered it. Surely, surely, he hadn't spent that much time indoors?
Slowly, Archie meandered his way across and off the castle grounds, taking everything in with almost childlike wonder.
