[OTA] When it rains....

She wasn't pleased by any means. Her youngest son had managed to throw everything she'd ever done for him back in her face, pushing back in a way he'd never dared to do before- before telling her to leave. In truth, as much as she wanted to blame this upon the King of Clubs, Laureline had her suspicions as to Jordan's hand in the whole mess ( Read more... )

"You aren't looking particularly happy today, my dear."

Why is Davin there? Well, it's tea time isn't it?

"Children, it seems, can be quite the handful." Though it was not really what she meant. Frowning, she found her seat and motioned for Davin to sit as well.

"Hadyn will hardly speak to me," she said after a moment. "It isn't as if I lied to him, I simply didn't see the point of robbing him." Which, clearly, she assumed her brother knew precisely what she was speaking of.

He settled down in the seat she waved him and listened as she poured the tea.

Luckily, he does actually know precisely what she's speaking of, but then, she's rarely had to specifically lay things out for him. "Only now I imagine he does feel robbed," he replied. "I can't, quite, imagine what it would be like. To grow up believing one thing...only to find out that that belief was completely false."

"So I should...what?" She almost snorted at the ideas that came to mind. And there was a certain resignation to the idea that Elisha was not going anywhere. She should have ended that one long ago. Perhaps without the man's encouragement this would have gone much better- certainly more so before the boy had that damn motorcycle.

"I fear I am losing him, perhaps both of them." And no matter what her own mother said, she wasn't sure she was ready to let them go. What, ever all, did she have if they left her?

Davin stirred some milk into his tea thoughtfully. "I suppose it depends on how you want this to end."

And if she can still achieve whatever it she wants this late in the game.

"There is always time for it," she said after a moment. "And it is not particularly necessary for me to even be here for most of it. They think only of the immediate- but they've years yet to prove their ability."

Hadyn, really, had more than proven his ability to win people over. And so long as he and Jordan remained close- Jordan would have power, even if he did not realize it. Hadyn, for all his rebellion against her- was not a Leader. He would never be a King.

"Not be here for most of it?" He paused in raising the cup to his mouth. "And where would you go?"

Spade or Heart, she's always been here. He, at least, would not be pleased to see her going somewhere else.

"There is always the chance plans do not go the way it is intended. You know that as well as I." She said, before pausing. "I trust, however, that you will continue to look after the boys? You've been like a father for them both."

Davin frowns at that...which is really frowning at his sister. But he'll nod slowly, "you know I will."

They were, after all, the closest thing he would ever have to sons.

"Then there will be nothing to worry about, will there?" She asked, holding out a plate of biscuits for her brother.

"Now...enough about me." She said gently. "How has your...friend been recovering?"

The frown will turn to an appreciative smile as he takes one of the biscuits. "I find, my dear, there is always something to worry about."

But he won't push for more though her choice of follow-on subject has him giving her a really going there? expression.

"Quite well, actually. You almost wouldn't know there'd ever been an accident."

"That is a small blessing at least." She was trying, Davin. Why did he have to give her that look? Almost as if he didn't trust her.

"It would be difficult to go about ones life on the Deck with such an injury."

Well, he does trust her, is perhaps the sad thing. He just also knows her.

But he'll nod and munch on his biscuit, swallowing before answering, "nearly impossible, I expect."
