The last thing on the Queen's rounds today was her appointment with Tegan. Eileen had told her about the staff, but she wanted to see it for herself and today she finally had time. She walked to Tegan's office, her thoughts filled with a million things. Eileen growing up, Lance's body still unrecovered, Alexander's distance from the mundane tasks of ruling of late, and the Arcana. Was the artifact truly something leftover from earlier times? Could Edgar, with that funny last name meaning acorn, have been from one of the families that broke away? Were the Deck and the Arcana once the same system? And what did it mean, that they were back? And what was the staff for?

Lost in thought, she almost passed the office door, but Tegan was inside and called out. Argine stopped on a dime and pivoted. "Sorry. A lot on my mind, it would seem."

Then she entered, and closed the door behind her.
