Dafydd is retired from spying, circulate the rumors. He's happy to let that rumor spread while at the same time spending the evening at home, tweaking the system he's using to keep passing information to Elisha. Rebeckah in Inventory is quick and sharp and came up with a brilliant system of filling out inventory forms in code, and passive ( Read more... )

This is Elani wandering in to the kitchen and of course she's drawn to Dafydd baking.

"What are those?"

They looked (and smelled) delicious.

"Evening Elani. They're choux à la crème. Cream puffs," Dafydd answers with a smile. "Saffron rose. Want to try one? It's a bit experimental, I could use a second opinion."

The saffron's a little heavy and the cream is the color of curry, but the texture is nice and light and the flavor is rich.

She settled down onto a stool and looked at him expectantly with a smile. "A guinea pig? I'm game."

Hey, new treats are always fun.

It doesn't take long for him to pipe out a serving of cream into one of the pastry shells, then shrug and pipe it into a second one. He may as well take a break for a sample too. "Tea?" he asks as he sets the plate on the table and moves to the stove.

Do you know what's excellent for plotting a passive intelligence-gathering system, Dafydd? Baklava.

Unfortunately balancing baklava, while on crutches, while also attempting to knock on your door is a little trickier than Tegan expected so don't be surprised if when you open the door you find yourself with an armful of red head.

He's largely distracted analyzing the balance of rosewater and saffron in the cream when he answers the door and Tegan's shirt will have a smear of yellow cream on it, but that doesn't compare to the armful of redhead or the baklava that he is now...largely wearing.

"Iesu Crist," he manages to gasp when he gets his breath back. "Tegan?"

Excuse her, she's currently seeing stars - and not the pleasant "my aren't you so handsome please take me in your arms and hold me forever" variety either, unfortunately - and will manage to be appropriately embarrassed once she doesn't feel like someone's hit her in the chest with a sledgehammer.

...yellow was always a good colour on her, anyway.

"Tegan?" Dafydd shifts a little awkwardly under her and sets a hand on her back. "You all right? Your ankle, is it all right?" There will be no easy way to untangle them without blushing on his part and possibly also on hers, but first he needs to ensure she isn't hurt.

Then he can deal with the, well. Stickiness.

Lexa's just wandering around the castle when she catches a whiff of a delicious smell coming from the kitchens. She can't resist peeking in to check out who's making something, and what exactly that thing is.

Dafydd is tasting the mixture - a bit too sweet, needs more cream - and it takes him a moment to notice being peered at. "Oh, hey," he says, straightening. "Seen you around before, but I don't think we've met. I'm Dafydd."

He pipes cream into one of the shells and beckons her in. "Like to try one? They're an experiment."

"Heard'f you." She shrugs, stepping into the room, crossing her arms. "What're those, anyway?"

"My reputation precedes me once again. They're cream puffs. I'm trying saffron-rose flavored cream this time, it's new. Could use a second opinion if you wouldn't mind helping me out," he says as he turns off the burner beneath the boiling kettle. People often try things when he couches it in terms of helping him out.

Have a perpetually hungry Club guard coming in with a hopeful look on his face. "Food?"

Dafydd laughs as he pipes cream into another shell. "If cream puffs count as food," he says and straightens. "Hi Rylan. Like to be a guinea pig? Saffron-rose flavor, an experiment." Of course, there's also real food if the perpetually hungry Club would like something more substantial than a cream puff.

"Roses? In food? Is that even allowed?" But he comes over, nose twitching and eyes taking in the sweets.

"Well, not real roses. It's rose water. You find it in Eastern recipes sometimes. Turkish coffee with rose water is an entirely different drink." Dafydd nods to a chair as he pipes full two more cream puff shells and sets them on a plate. "I thought I'd experiment with it a bit more. Dive in."
