we supposedly had a curfew, but i don't think anyone really cared and they never locked the door. the real curfew is the train anyway, if you miss it it's not like you can get back to your dorm before 5:30 anyway!
not to poke fun at you man, but sounds like you had all the same problems that people not studying Japan have. -shrugs- I lived in a homestay for 8 months, but it wasn't that bad. At some point you have to get used to the idea that you are not still at home - utilities and such, as well as living practices, are quite a bit different. If you live in a homestay for any decent length of time, you get used to it, and even start to see the benefits.
Also, cold air doesn't necessarily give you coughs. That's an old wives tale, just like that going outside with wet hair will make you sick.
no, it went downhill! there was some other stuff i forgot to mention, like the dryers not really working...creepy tenants or whatever, but i wanted to stay more focused.
you should read about my homestay when i post it, maybe tomorrow. it was from hell!
Just passing through, but I just wanted to say that I did a study abroad in Japan and stayed in a dorm that was mostly Chinese/Korean girls (some Japanese girls were there but they moved out about 3 weeks after I arrived). They too would hock very loudly at night (my room was at the complete end of the hallway from the bathroom and I could hear it at night) AND they would talk loudly in the hallway instead of going to a room. So I totally understand that part of it @_@

Smoke is smoke, and if someone has allergies or asthma it will hurt them. It's not only about the smell.
