On Thermostats

Mar 01, 2013 20:53

Hey, everyone. I'm actually working on a longer, unrelated post, but this is slightly more time-sensitive.

So, what is an appropriate thermostat setting for winter? It's about 32/0 degrees outside, and the thermostat is set to 72/22 degrees. Personally, I find this uncomfortably warm, and I have my fan and window on to moderate the temperature. But, I'm a roommate that's prone to compromise, I like to think, so fine, 72 it is, instead of the 67/19 I'd personally prefer. Except my roommate keeps turning the heat on further, and I'm literally sweating in my room as the degrees have just climbed all night.

And I don't know which roommate it is, so I can't really have a preemptive talk about it? So I'm about to turn it back off and wait for a roommate to come and turn it back on, and then have a polite and civil discussion about it.

Unless I'm actually in the wrong, and +72 in winter isn't as ridiculous as I think it is?
