D. Forever! My boyfriend and I leave out the toaster, french press, electric can opener, electric tea kettle and small odd grill thing. However, they're always clean and it's just us. There's enough counter space left to prepare a sammich or what not.
I don't understand living in filth though. Boy oh boy.
This. It actually never occurred to me to put appliances away. To me, counter space is for appliances. Putting them away to free up space is negating the entire point of having counters.
We've never put any appliances away either (unless it's something really bulky that we never use), so it's weird to hear about people on this community doing it on a regular basis. I can understand if there is incredibly limited space, but things like kettle/toaster/blender etc never get put away. (I'd kill my OH since I drink a lot of tea lol)
Same here. Currently I don't have the counter/bench space to keep out all my appliances, so it's been kept down to the toaster and coffee maker to make sure I have prep space for cooking.
I would LOVE the bench & powerpoint space to have ALL THE APPLIANCES ALL THE TIME, but even the sandwich toaster mkes it difficult to make a sandwich without knocking things off.

Cultural differences, I guess.
