This is a writers-helping-writers forum for Housefic authors to discuss and practice the craft of writing. Or, as pwcorgigirl put it rather aptly, the place you go to get things fixed. Got a WIP that needs a cat figurine removed from its nostril? A rewrite crying out for some little blue pills (or at least a handful of candy)? You’re in the right spot.
pwcorgigirl and logastellus are your friendly mods, but mostly we’re just two more writers interested in getting better at what we do. Here’s how we think this community can help:
- We’ve got a good start on building a bookshelf of references and resources that may be handy, and hope you’ll help us add to it.
- We hope to see folks request concrit and suggestions on WIPs and rewrites, and trust the community to offer thoughtful and tactful feedback.
- Beta requests are welcome. Please put a brief summary and an excerpt of the WIP behind a cut, so potential betas can decide if they’re interested in working on the project.
- Periodically we’ll host writing exercises, to work on specific skills and techniques or just to get the creative juices flowing.
- Discussions about writing are always welcome! Share your tips and tricks for things you do well, and ask others to share their secret for handling things that seem to vex you.
On the other hand, there are a few things we definitely do not want to see here. Please do not post reviews or recommendations, non-writery things (fanart, vids, etc), discussion of the show unrelated to writing fanfic, or requests for the community to offer feedback on anyone’s work but your own. These will all get deleted.
In general, this is not the appropriate place to post links to your latest fic. This rule has an exception: if the fic in question benefited from feedback from this community, you are absolutely encouraged to post a link so we can see the finished product!
