I've recommended these two fics together because they both rely on Wilson's POV to tell the story, but neither is the typical 'responsible Wilson' voice that appears so often in House fandom.

Rating: R
Warnings: violence, adult themes - nothing horrible here
An encounter with a disturbed patient leaves Wilson questioning his view of House and his view of himself. Elicia8 offers up some great insights into Wilson's psyche and (in the process) House's psyche. Present tense usage throughout adds to the brittleness of Wilson's thought processes in the wake of a tragedy.

Warnings: slash, possible dubious consent (maybe)
Pre-show Wilson meets pre-show House - up to and including the infarction. In a story situation that usually calls for the typical Wilson voice - e.g., Wilson takes care of House - triedunture instead gives us a Wilson who's as out of control as the man he's looking after. Wilson's recurring dreams give great and occasionally hilarious insight into his fragile state of mind.
