I definitely think this belongs in the Hall of Fame. It's compelling and brings out emotion in a very real, understated way.

I left my earlier comment without having re-read the story, then thought, "I'll just go read a bit to refresh my memory." BOOM, sucked in, could not stop reading it. A real "page-turner" (or online equivalent) -- outstanding.

I love this story so very much. If I had had to wait for the chapter to be posted, I would never have survived. In large part because I wasn't convinced I was going to get the resolution that I wanted. It made for a compelling read.

What I like about this story is not only how broken House is, but how fourteencandles breaks and fixes Wilson. Wilson's recovery is believable, and painful, and especially hard to read with his newfound fear of space and people.

I love that we see the story from the points-of-view of most of the characters, at some point, and that we don't see anything from Wilson's point of view until he's found. Fourteencandles lets every character's actions and reactions come naturally from what we know about them.

The ending was especially satisfying--House and Wilson are both still broken, they're not completely better, but Wilson finds courage and we know that they'll both be ok.

This story is still a stunner every time I read it - and when I start, I simply can't stop. So much attention is paid to each character's actions and reactions - House, Wilson, and Cuddy are especially vibrant.

Most impressively, the story is intimate and heartbreaking without ever slipping into sensationalism. Instead, it all feels horribly, terribly real, on both sides of the House and Wilson equation. fourteencandles is working in a genre where everything can go horribly wrong...and absolutely nothing does.
