Enjoying this project very much! The general idea is great and I was very impressed by the first two installments.

Though I don't 100% agree with your interpretation of Lydia's meaning for House, I'm so glad that you addressed this issue and I hope a lot of people read this and understand her role in House's life a bit more. I know, a lot of people hate her and I think a lot of that hate is coming from not understanding what her character did for House in terms of him finally pursuing Cuddy openly.

I will tackle the Lydia issue since I wrote that part. I did not want her to represent what they presented her as, a change in House. Instead, I wrote her as a shift of focus which I felt negated the importance she was written with. I did not care for her either but I felt like she was a plot point I could not ignore.

He downs her like a palm full of vicodin-to forget he's in pain.
That certainly helped me coming to terms with the Lydia things a bit. Well done!

I just read yesterday's and today's posts, and all I can say is, 'wow.' You've wonderfully captured House's though processes and emotions here; it's absolutely brillant.

I particularly loved the section about Lydia. I'm firmly in the boat of disliking the reality of how that played out in 'Broken' but in your reboot, it rings much more true. It's not that she didn't change him in some way, but more that she was a distraction that morphed into something House wasn't looking for. She took an interest in him, saw him at his worst, and while she didn't give up her life to be with him, she didn't take anything away from him either. There wasn't anything to lose, for either of them, and that always seemed to be the appeal to me: that it couldn't *really* go anywhere.

Looking forward to reading the rest, and seeing how you interpret the rest of the season.
