[Closed RL with Ireland]

Sep 21, 2010 02:38

Elliot is pacing the ground outside his Aunt's house in Dublin. He knows she's home, he saw her go in three hours earlier. He just hasn't plucked up the courage to go in yet.

But for a change, Elliot hadn't done anything wrong. Not that Aunt Brigid needed to know anyway. No, he was here for an entirely innocent reason.

He needed advice.

[She opens a window and pokes her head out of it, a wry smile on her face]

Stand there long enough, Elliot dear, and you'll be taken away by the Guardí.

[Elliot gives a nervous laugh.] Sorry Aunt Brigid.

Can I come in?

[She just smiles wider]

Aye, 'course you can. The only family I'd turn away is Arthur, after all.

[This relaxes the youth more, since the mentioned uncle was most likely to mentioned again during their conversation.

He walked to door, and turned the handle.]

[She scurries off to make up a cup of tea for him, setting it down on a small table in the sitting room. When he comes in she also sets down a plate of biscuits before returning to tuning her harp as she had been doing before she caught him hovering outside.]

So what be bringin' you to me door, hm? And at so late an hour at that.

[He doesn't answer straight away, going instead for the tea and biscuits (she really knew him too well) and thinking about to phrase his question.]

I need...advice.

[She raises an eyebrow at that, but keeps her focus on her harp, plucking a string every now and again]

Advice you couldn't be goin' to your da about? How interesting... Ah, but 'tis what aunts are for I suppose. What can I be helpin' with?

It's one thing I don't trust Da with. Especially with his...circumstances. [And that tone should alert Brigid more than anything. Elliot only ever uses it when talking about Francis.]

[Which just makes her smile wryly again and nod]

Aah, 'course. If Douglas knows something, 'tis only a matter of time before Francis does. [And if she pulls one of her stings just a little too sharply, well, that can be understood.] Well, I promise that anything said here will be stayin' here.

And that's not the only reason. [He stops. He's not sure how to phrase this without her laughing.]

It's about...girls...

[She does laugh, but it's a fond laugh, not a mocking one.]

Aye, wondered when I would start getting these visits I did. Well, no need to be embarrassed me dear, can't be learning anything if you're not asking questions, aye? Ask away.

[Elliot opened his mouth to ask, but decided to eat another biscuit instead. Again, he didn't know how to phrase this question.]

[She teases out a tune from her harp, frowning a little as one note comes out flat. She adjusts the tuning, waiting for Elliot to come around to his questions on his own time.}

[He swallowed, harder than usual, and look a sip of tea.]

So...how do I tell her?

[She smiles just a little]

Depends on the lass, I should think. Why do you like her? What would she like to be hearing?

[Elliot focuses his gaze on his tea.]

She's beautiful and funny and she makes me act different...

[As to what she would like hearing, he hadn't a clue. Wasn't that why he was here in the first place?]
