As Marian let the arrows slide between her fingers, through the bow that was after so many years just an extension of her being, she couldn't help feeling restless. Her great love of Ingress not withstanding, she was beholden to whatever teacher the little girl had run off to have her next class with. "Pardon me for interrupting," he says with a nod. "And do please call me Tom."

She looks very much engrossed in her practice, so he walks to her other side, giving her plenty of space.

"I'm just out for a bit of crisp air. Don't mind me."

Marian considered the target, but her eyes followed him round the edge of the courtyard. Eventually her shoulders dropped, along with her bow, which she extracted her arrow from.

"You are done with your business for the day?"

"More or less. We might need to attend to something later, but for the moment, there's a lull."

He stops, hands in pockets. "You know, we think this courtyard is from the 18th century. It must have ceased existing in the Topside during a very good year. The weather is nearly always exceptionally fine."

Her restlessness had not abated but she had long ago cultivated a patience that could outlast near anything. Her gaze took in her location, more fully to be finally seeing it than simply accepting it as the location which held her.

"Do the places always maintain the atmosphere from the time they came from, more than simply the look and things which were inside them at the time?"
