She does feel disoriented for a moment, but soon recovers.

"I'm fine, thank you. It reminds me a little of the portals that connect the mundane world to the homelands. Moving through portraits is a unique way to travel."

She looks around a little curiously.

"I assume that we aren't just in a hidden part of Milliways, but in another world entirely?"

"You assume correctly, madam. We're in London Below. Homelands... are you from the same world as Snow White and Bigby Wolf?"

She smiles and nods.

"I am, though they had already gone by the time I arrived. Does each of these portraits lead to an entirely different reality, or are they all a part of this London Below?"

He points to a small painting in the corner of the gallery. "That was their painting. They and their children resided here with us for a long time. I still keep their rooms reserved, just in case they should decide to return one day."

He takes her by the elbow to escort her through the school room painting. Once they are on the other side, he continues. "As for where the portraits lead, this is an associative house, and all the rooms come from somewhere - or somewhen - in London Below. The Underside is a place where time and memories from the City Above drift down and become trapped, like an insect in amber."
