It was Thursday, so of course, Draco was in his usual spot in the House of Arch's library. Assisting with research, and taking notes. Currently curled up in a chair, looking over a parchment. He's welcome to distractions, or questions.

Here's one for him.

Tom seems a little distracted as he walks through the painting to the House of Arch family gallery. He's carrying a stack of books from his personal library.

"Hullo, Draco. How's that research coming along?"

Draco glanced up, and then laid the parchment carefully onto a table nearby.

He got up, and headed over, "Oh, hullo Tom. More of the same mostly. Just get little hints here and there."

"That's most vexing. You'd think there'd be more information in your day and age regarding stable portals in space and time."

He sets down the books and glances down at the signet ring with a heraldric crest upon it on his right hand. "Say, do you know of a family called Peverell in your world?"

Draco shrugged, "Nothing that's been successful. It's like Apparation, but worse. Even more splinching accidents."

He likewise looked toward Tom's right hand. "...I'm not sure. Purebloods?"

"Perhaps? I think it was my mother's. I- came across it the other day. Mysterious circumstances, and all that."

Mysterious circumstances such as dream visions. Conversations with dead people before they actually died.

"I haven't had time to do more than identify the crest."

Draco wondered about that.

"Strange..."

"Indeed." He shrugged and opened a book, setting the subject aside. "I forgot to ask. Did you attend Wednesday's party?"

(ooc: Millitiming it some as more family gathering, and less Halloween party per se, as per discussion with Steph.)

"Wasn't so much a party as dinner with her family. Somewhat strange, though they seemed to like me. Though her mum... has something of a Black to her. Could be further up the tree." Luckily it's doubtful that there would be any of the usual wizarding inbreeding here.

"Oho. Meeting the parents, eh? That's even better than a party. Well, you know those Americans. Their form of wizardry is strange at best, so it's no fault of hers that she wasn't brought up according to our standards."

Draco nodded wearily, "You have no idea.... Her grandmother likes to cook with poisons, and uses the same ingredients for potions AND cooking."

"Bloody hell- I hope you keep antidotes on hand," he chuckles. Those wacky Americans.

Draco vehmently nodded, still creeped out by that part.

"Absolutely. Arsenic in the stew and strychine in the dessert."

He cocks his head at that. "Are you sure they like you?"

Draco shrugged, "Well, her parents were pleased about her progress with the exploding potions, and how she nearly blew up a house nearby. ...So I think so?"

He shakes his head. "Sadly, I never met my in-laws. I'm not quite sure what they'd have thought of me. Not that I'm implying you and your girl are headed towards matrimonial bliss."

So innocent.

"Er... yes well." Draco glanced down, hiding his face. Once again, it's hard to hide a blush under pale skin.
