In Tom's study
*Earlier in the day, Tom sat down to write the letter to Dumbledore. He started several and ended up balling up each piece of parchment and throwing it away.
Maybe tomorrow. Besides I don't want to bother Tonks if she's so busy. It can wait.
So instead he writes a different letter, one that comes much more easily to Tom.*
Dear Mr. Crouch,
You have done unconscionable things. But then again, so have I in my past. That is why I have been cruel to you when I needn't have.
I am not saying this in apology. My cruelty to you was more detrimental to myself than it likely was to you.
Regardless, I wish things could be different for you.
