hey kids - I can has summary? (p.s. I miss you)

I was perusing comments in a previous post and flippet had mentioned that she'd be interested in a general summary of events gone down this season. I'm sure a lot of us feel that way - I've gotten bits and pieces from friends, but don't really know anything concrete. Like I know Chase left, but I have no idea why or what happened.

Can anyone who's kept ( Read more... )

I'll try and summarise as best I can, although I'm sure I'm missing things out ( ... )

and was lumped with Park, a med student.

To clarify, Park is not a med student. She is a fully trained neurologist. When we meet her in episode 8.02, she is working at PPTH in the neurology department. She has punched her boss, because he groped her. Foreman assigns her to work for House.

She is actually my second favorite fellow ever (second only to Chase). It's too bad we got only one season of her. She's a unique character and a lot of fun, IMO.

Oh, yeah, that's it; thanks for correcting me. I have to say, though, I really don't like Park. I tend to tune out whenever she's on screen! Each to their own, of course. I really miss Thirteen.

I don't think I've ever disliked a team member as much as Park. And I'll stop there before I get really insulting.

And I will just say 'Ditto' and move on as well.

I guess I don't get all the Park hate. She is a breath of fresh air on a show that has historically treated its female cast members as primarily sexual objects. Park dresses appropriately for work, doesn't care what other people think of her, embraces her nerdiness, and is a good doctor. She also respects House and enjoys working with him. And her relationship with him is not "shippy." She's also hilarious and adorkable, and she is not defined in terms of the men in her life. She simply is who she is. I wish she'd been cast on the show years ago.

You say hilarious and adorkable; I say stereotypical, forced comic relief that I just don't find funny, at all. From minute one on screen, I couldn't stand her. To each their own.

I know a lot of people that like Park, and good for them, but I totally agree with the comment above me, I find her extremely stereotypical as well. I don't find her funny at all. I have never understood the negative remarks Cuddy got for her wardrobe. Maybe it's a cultural difference thing, but I find it absolutely normal to show a little cleavage. Hell, my mother has a cleavage like Cuddy and she's a high school teacher, being around teenage boys all the time. She has never got a negative remark about it. I honestly don't understand how Cuddy's wardrobe was inappropriate. Plus, if you think about Cameron, she always dressed more plainly. Park dresses unfashionably - it's fine, fits the character, but it's like you suggest that fashion is inappropriate.

I love Lisa E. love Cuddy. I love her clothes. But some of the outfits she wore indeed were not appropriate in the work setting of hospital administration. Please notice I wrote "some," not "all" or "many." That is no criticism of Cuddy or Lisa E; that is a criticism of the show's wardrobe people who sexualized her in the same way that the show as a whole did (DS? The writers in general?). Anyway, it's irrelevant.

Okay, but see, that's what we disagree about. I didn't think that any of her clothes were inappropriate, or that the show's wardrobe people sexualized her in any way. They made sure her skirts were always long enough, and I didn't think her low-cut tops were that low-cut...
When I think of inappropriate clothes for her position, sweatpants come to mind. :)

I don't know, I think short of you know, nipple tassels and a sexy nurse outfit, a little (or a lot) of cleavage is well within Cuddy's right to flaunt. She evidently enjoys spending her money on expensive bras and blouses and more power to her. Certainly there's an argument to be made that it was sexualization on part of the production team and believe me, I am the first to accuse those behind House of misogyny, but they wrote it like Cuddy's decision, so it's hard for me to look at it that way--and they certainly didn't treat Cameron that way or anything.

Adams is shrill, shrewish, and boring. IMO, she is the worst character and least interesting fellow the show has ever had. And this is coming from someone who finds Foreman super boring and 13 overly-smug, obnoxious, and hard to take.

Taub has two baby girls - Sophie and Sophia
.... Okay I'm just gonna have to stop you right there.
I literally cannot. I have never seen anything in my ENTIRE LIFE take such a spectacular nosedive.

Taub's two daughters are a side plot in one episode. It's irritating, but it's not that big a deal. The mothers named them the same name. I suspect Taub's ex-wife Rachel gave birth second, and she did it to irritate him. Yes, it's stupid. But it's not like it's been the focus of the season.

I know. I can't remember if there was an explanation or not but even if there was, there is no justification for such ridiculousness.
