Book Club Concerns: A Frank Conversation :P

Feb 03, 2012 13:49

Hey, everyone,

I know that a lot of us have a lot on our plates, or have just gotten back to school, or have simply lost interest in the community.  But the book club that was started with such excitement has dwindeled quickly into, well, zero comments for this week (I plan on posting mine in the next day or two, but I mean, I wrote the questions so it's kind of weird me just replying to myself).  And I was hoping to get some suggestions or ideas on what we can do to increase participation, or if we should just drop it altogether.

Do you think the stories, at 20-30k words, are too long? Too short? Do you think there isn't enough time between stories to read and comment? Are there too many questions, or do you not like the questions we're asking? Any other ideas/thoughts/suggestions?  We are kind of limited in terms of which authors have allowed us to use their work, so we can't really take suggestions as far as stories are concerned, just for that reason.  We are trying to choose stories by popular/approved authors that people might be less familiar with, but that doesn't always happen.

What do you recommend?

Thanks for your comments, guys.  And a big thank you to those who have participated faithfully every week.  You know who you are. It's so exciting to see that at least a few people are interested.  :P
