So I was watching 7x09 ("Larger Than Life") and 7x11 ("Family Practice") last night, and I couldn't help but notice something. House is extremely defensive when someone says anything negative about Cuddy. Ironically, he does it so often, that it's become more of a form of flirting between the two. If someone else says something negative (be it Taub in 7x02, or Arlene in 7x09 and 7x11), he gets really upset. He was pretty rude to Taub ("If you have a problem with the team decision, you come to me") and when Arlene was being rude to Cuddy during their dinner together, you could tell from his face that he was just a couple of ticks away from blowing up, but because of his love and respect for Cuddy, he shut up. Thankfully, when he was about to say something, Arlene passed out due to the sedatives. In 7x11, during the confrontation in Cuddy's office, you could tell House was really hurt by the fact that Arlene was being rude to her at every opportunity and she wasn't doing anything about it. This kind of blew up inside him and he had to say something to Cuddy. "You never confront her. That pisses me off", which lead to Cuddy asking "Are you taking this personally?" because I think she understood that there was more to this than just House being hard on her. He was actually hurt by how Arlene was treating her. And he wasn't being rude to Cuddy, because in the next part, he says "...the man sleeping next to you", implying that he wasn't just using her as a free sex tool, but as the woman he loves. I don't think we've ever seen House be blatantly angry over someone insulting or disrespecting Cuddy. I just thought it was note-worthy and awesome. <3
I just kind of wanted to throw this out there and see what everyone else saw. This is my first time doing this sort of thing, so if I'm out of my mind and seeing things, forgive me. lol
I don't even know if I tagged this properly. LOL FAIL.
