Like, a bazillion minutes ago, I requested an icon from the wonderful
djinni (his website is
here.) I forgot about it, and then poof, there it was in my inbox. This is my snow leopard "fursona"/spirit animal. The irony is, she hates snow. Because I hate snow. You might ask why, if I hate snow so much, do I have a snow leopard as a spirit animal? Well, think about it. Snow is cold and nasty and makes it difficult to get around. If you're a critter, it makes it hard to keep warm and find food.
To me, snow represents all kinds of adversity in my life: isolation, depression, feeling trapped, et cetera. The snow leopard is my spirit animal because she can survive all of this. She's adaptable, agile, steadfast and sure-footed, all things I want to be. Of course, nobody wants to be in "survival mode" all the time. My snow leopard can withstand the harsh winter, but would much prefer to pad through a patch of green grass than battle her way through crusty snow. Where she lives and thrives, spring is brief and beautiful. The snow leopard reminds me to be happy for times of plenty, no matter how fleeting they may be.
