Epic Mix CD Part 1

I've had this idea swirling around in my head for the past few weeks or so about how awesome mix CDs were back in the day. I would say I was quite the afficionado when it came to making mixes. I have a CD binder that has probably close to 20-25 mixes, and some even have themes. I pondered this a little longer and decided to make a mix CD unlike one that was ever made before. I couldn't think of anything else to call it except The Epic Mix CD. It is epic in its content, as well as the method it takes to make it.

It took me roughly three weeks in my head and roughly two weeks of actual putting together and tweaking but I finally think I have a finished product. If anyone wishes to partake in this time consuming (but totally worth it) idea for a mix, here's how it goes: You go through your entire music collection, listening to all of your Track 1's. You pick your favorite song out of all those Track 1's and that becomes Track 1 on the Epic Mix. You do the same thing for all your Track 2's, Track 3's, and so on. Once you're reached Track 12, you're done. I cut it off at 12 since few CDs run longer than that. I hope most of you decide to do this as it would be cool to see what everyone else's Epic Mix would look like. So, without further ado, I present Track 1.

Lyrics

Brother will kill brother
Spilling blood across the land
Killing for religion
Something I don't understand

Fools like me, who cross the sea
And come to foreign lands
Ask the sheep, for their beliefs
Do you kill on God's command?

A country that's divided
Surely will not stand
My past erased, no more disgrace
No foolish naive stand

The end is near, it's crystal clear
Part of the master plan
Don't look now to Israel
It might be in your homelands

Holy Wars

Upon my podium as the know it all scholar
Down in my seat of judgement, gavels bang, uphold the law
Up on my soapbox, a leader out to change the world
Down in my pulpit as the Holier-than-thou-could-be messenger of God

Wage the war on organized crime
Sneak attacks repel down the rocks, behind the lines
Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
Either way they die, they die!

They killed my wife and my baby
With hopes to enslave me
First mistake... last mistake!
Paid by the alliance
To slay all the giants
Next mistake... no more mistakes

(Epic, Face-melting Solo)

Fill the cracks in, with judicial granite
Because I don't say it, doesn't mean I ain't thinkin' it
Next thing you know they'll take my thoughts away
I know what I said, now I must scream of the overdoes
And the lack of mercy killings

Next thing you know they'll take my thoughts away!

Why I Picked It

Ironically, this song is about two topics which I like to avoid, religion and war. That being said, I hate to blow my load on the first song, but there is nothing not epic about it. Epic intro, epic riffs throughout, epic solos, epic one liners (when he growls "No more mistakes"), just plain epic. Still gives me chills every time that solo starts. This is in the running for my all time favorite song in the history of songs. Enjoy. Track two will appear soon.
