There is an example of a fairly obvious sequence in L^2 that when you apply the Gram-Schmidt process to you get the Legendre Polynomials. The Legendre Polynomials happen to be a major part of the general solution to the electric potential in spherical coordinates. Why? Why does this make any sense? Are they related? How? What the fuck?
Sometimes math is way too cool for me.
