I think what hurts the most is when you get burned by the people you care about the most, or the people you want to care about the most. The people who you genuinely want, don't seem to need you at all. And they shove you away. Because they're scared, maybe, or maybe they really don't need you. Maybe they lost someone, and they're scared to get close to someone again, for fear that they'll lose them too. You can't blame them for that.
But everyone needs someone. You can't go through life alone. Everyone needs one person to be ther unconditionally, who will always give support, love, advice, faith, trust, just someone to be there for them at their low points, as well as their high ones. Someone to laugh with, someone to cry with, someone to confide in. Someone to tell your deepest secrets to, the ones you don't trust yourself with. The person who knows you better than you know yourself. Someone you trust with your life.
I don't know much. In fact, compared to some people, I don't know shit. And I'm fine with that, because I'm young, and I'm thankful for what I have, believe it or not. But the one thing I know is that you are never alone. Even if you have no friends, you always have someone. A guardian angel. Laugh if you will, but I have a stuffed bear my grandpa gave me when I was two weeks old. The bear was bigger than me when I got it. But I still sleep with it every night. I tell it my deepest secrets. It's so small, so torn up, it's well-loved. I wouldn't exchange it for the world, for anything.
You have guardian angels. You may never meet them, but they're always there. There are always people who care about you. Let them care about you. You can't go on being strong for yourself forever. Because eventually, it wears you down. You need people, just as much as they need you.
Eventually it becomes too late. You had them once, but you let them slip away. They don't wait forever. No one waits forever, because they don't have forever to wait. You realize that it's better to be second best, than not to rank at all. They never really give up on you. Maybe they move on, but if they really care, if they really love you, they never give up.
Because there's something about you. Something amazing, something incredible that you might never see, you might never understand what it is. But they see it in you. And they want to be there for you for that reason. Everyone has something special in them. It just takes the right person to see it. You'll never see it in yourself, but someone else will. You'll always say they're lying, but to them, as long as you have it, that's all that matters.
It's okay to cry. It's okay to break down once in a while. No one's going to laugh, no one's going to think you're weak, or miserable. You gain respect. It takes a lot to open up. There are people all around you. Even if they aren't there physically....you're never alone.
