My mom surprised me with a wonderful Hanukkah-in-a-box which included my own hanukkiah (menorah). I had my first REAL hannukah without my family here. I made latkahs and kugel and matzos ball soup ALL BY MYSELF and i taught my roomies how to play dreidel and the meaning of the holiday and all of that. I don't think i have ever been more homesick for something i barely ever had.
