Child Of Two Worlds

The boy who sits beside you
The one that everyone loves
Always has a smile on his face
And always gets the A+
He seems so overjoyed
Like nothing ever goes wrong
But it’s only his gift of hiding things
That allows him to stay strong
You can’t see the pain
You cannot see the scars
You don’t see him by his window at night
Praying upon the stars
Hoping for a miracle
Something to take him away
So that he can be a kid
And not be treated this way
His mother shows no love
She’s doesn’t care a bit
His father always beats on him
Whenever he’s in a fit
But he plays such a good role
As he goes about his day
Laughing, joking and smiling
Until he can no longer stay
He makes his way for home
Feeling the freight build in
He knows what to expect
As soon as he walks in
His father’s at the bar
His mother’s walking the streets
Frozen dinner on the counter
Which he silently heats and eats
Thoughts run through his mind
Ideas form in his head
Would his parent’s even care
If they came home and found him dead?
The boy who sits next to you
Isn’t there one day
He could no longer take the pressure
On earth he couldn’t stay
His parents came home that night
And found their only child dead
They pushed him so far over the edge
That he put a bullet to his head
A child of two worlds
He will never be again
No longer has to hide the pain
Because he took his life instead
The boy who sat next to you
The one loved by all but two
Only wanted to grow up
The way all other children do
He no longer feels the pain
He cannot see the scars
And at night when you are by your window
He watches over you from the stars

I was looking at poems online written by teens, and this one caught my eye. Reading it made me grateful for the kind of lifestyle i have...makes me realize how easy i have it compared to others.
