New stove, range hood and dishwasher on the way! Yay! The timing is not perfect, and I went as economical as possible, but it will be great to have them. The oven heating element needed replacing (burners and broiler worked fine). Would have been a simple fix save the fact that the stove is 29 years old (and you can no longer even see serial numbers for parts and such)! And, yeah.. that's my next point. The stove had more than had it. In fact, I started looking at new stoves 10 years ago! I just have a hard time replacing something that still works. And something that's working just has a way of taking a backseat on the priority list 'cause there seems to always be a more immediate need. Anyway, the stove really was beyond hope, but I decided on a dishwasher too. It's easier to do at once, and while my dishwasher works, it screams at me regularly and sometimes misses spots. It's 19 years old if I'm not mistaken. I'm looking forward to the appliances, but I'm mostly looking forward to the CLEAN. The biggest downside of a very old stove is that no amount of scrubbing will make it look really, really clean. I'm also looking forward to cleaning underneath, and I will insist that the installer not rush me. :) Delivery is next Saturday.
