I am posting this poem I wrote so that Audrey can read it. What does everyone think?
Title: Not Dwelling On It
Did I do something
to offend you? I wouldn’t
ask if all the signs
weren’t there, when we clicked
we had fun, and nine hour
conversations don’t happen
everyday. We talked
and enjoyed each other’s company,
but now it seems I missed something. I saw
at sunrise those tired smiles
in your eyes, the sweet color of a storm
at noon, and those eyes now
don’t look at me.
I’m cross-legged
my chin in my palms
on your floor. Swept away
by your strumming, those intoxicating
harmonies emphasize
your diverted gaze. No matter
how much we can talk
until moons become suns
misunderstandings stand
as a reminder that this is still as new
as each sunrise. Who said
we can’t just say what we think?
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions I would love to hear them!
