Sonnet of Singlehood (please note I am aware it's not in sonnet form)

Please don’t make me say
Lord, I fell for that smile
A world apart we know nothing about the next step
I thought it was your job to love

In case I haven’t told you lately
I’ve never been the kind that you’d call lucky
Hope in new plans
There’s nothing else like your skin
Is it still me that makes you sweat?

I can see that you were right about this place
Sometimes I’m right, sometimes I’m wrong
Should have been different
But it wasn’t different
Was it?

I’m tugging at my hair
I hear the clock at six a.m.
I’ll be your dream
When you wake me
You take me back home

You’ve got to have heart
You’d better crawl on your knees
Express yourself
And the tears upon the pillow that I shed
Oh rose.

Breaking my back just to know your name.
I am at ease in your arms
There are certain people you just keep coming back to
I was dazzled by the mountains
If all else fails you can blame it on me.
