Lee is Free (gushing hero worship from a crazed fan girl)

So I forgot to mention my wonderful dream about Sonic Youth playing in this big green field with a small audience. They started playing Mote but for some reason stopped....and for reasons unknown to me, Lee Renaldo was on drums. I walked right up to him in that green field to say hello, and we chit-chatted for a moment. He had this big sincere smile on his face while I was complimenting him. The rest of the band was there too, but he was the one I talked to.
Lee is in some ways my favorite member of Sonic Youth, probably because last year when we saw them at Headliners, he was the one that hung out with the fans by the big tour bus. Humble, sincere, genuine....that was the impression he made on me. I was too shy to say hello, but as he was signing the last autographs, he looked at me and started to ask if I wanted one too, but I looked away all flustered and shy in the presense of the man who wrote Hoarfrost.
So now I have this huge desire to go to the upcoming Sonic Youth/Patti Smith show and give him our demo...taking special care to point out that Soft Wired Cities has a lot of his influence on it (at least with what I'm playing, I borrowed from his style pretty heavily).
And oh my god...Patti Smith...I can hardly breathe right now just thinking of how fucking good that show will be. It's the real deal, real art that changes the way I feel every time I hear it.
I'm not into hero worship, usually, but Patti Smith and Sonic Youth are pioneers...the only person I can think of that preceeded Patti is Jim Morrison, and he was a nihilist, and a man.
Much love for Patti Smith and Sonic Youth!!
