Trevor flies along Interstate 80, his foot held down as hard as he can, the speedometer of his dilapidated car long since buried. He's only had to deal with one cop so far, and a single statement spoken into his borrowed JSA communicator had made the state Highway patrol car slow down and let him go. "My name is Hotshot. I know police can pick up ( Read more... )

Aditsan knew the sound even before it'd reached the last mile. The sound of Trevor's footfalls was programmed into his mind, and he drops the book he'd been trying to read for two months now.

He throws the cabin door open, and steps onto the porch, barefoot.

"Shá-Tse`gah... What is the matter? Why do you hurry?"

"AD!" Trevor runs into Aditsan, gripping him tightly for a moment, then pushing him back toward the cabin.

"Get your stuff! Get the clothes we bought last month, throw it in a bag, and grab your shoes!" He pushes more insistently, unable to take his eyes off of his lover.

He's missed Trevor, been pacing the floor at his sudden long disappearance and lack of contact.

Aditsan paces backwards, his face showing confusion and a small trace of fear. "I don't understand. What has happened? Why are you sending me away?"

"I'm not. You're coming with me. I'm going to take you to the train station, and you're gonna go stay with my parents. Hurry!"

Aditsan's looking more and more confused, slowly moving to shut the door. "Why? I don't understand," he says, sounding much like a scared child. "I do not know your kin! It's... it's in the city, Shá-Tse`gah. I can't..."

Trevor stops, frozen in his tracks by the fear in Aditsan's usually serene voice. Placing his hand on the back of Aditsan's neck, Trevor pulls him close, their foreheads touching.

"I'm sorry. I don't mean to scare you. I just need to get you someplace safe. Caleb knows you're here, so you can't be here. Please."

"And make sure you get your swords."

Trevor's words really aren't helping to comfort him, and his hands grab the sleeves of Trevor's coat, keeping him close. "Why can't I be here because of Ch-- Caleb?"

He finally starts moving at the mention of his weapons. They're resting beside the couch, and Aditsan reaches for them. "Please." He puts a hand on Trevor's arm. "Stop. Explain this to me."

Trevor stops, starts to say something, then holds up one hand. Walking over to the end table next to his recliner, Trevor deliberately takes his time as he pulls his cigarettes out and lights one. Taking a long drag, he finally looks up at Aditsan.

"Something's happened to Caleb. There's something inside of him, fucking with his mind, and I think he might hurt you." Trevor makes his way toward the closet where he left his backpack, wincing once as he rests weight on his left leg.

There's a sigh, and Aditsan gives him a long look. "Trevor, I do not care for Caleb myself, but if he is in danger-- he is your friend. I do not wish to run away."

"You have to. Chindi-Caleb has a demon inside of him. I mean, I know he has demon in him, but he's being possessed. He spanked the crap out of the JSA. If he comes after you, I won't be able to stop him. You just need to stay with my parents until we can find a way to get him back. I promise, my parents are great people. They'll take care of you, and we'll get this all sorted out."

Aditsan continues staring at him, finally shaking his head. Trevor's been too good to him to argue this. The thought of his Sun-Haired One in danger still made his stomach churn, but he would cooperate on this.

"I... will do as you say," he says quietly, pacing off to the bedroom in a controlled grimace of anger.

Trevor continues to smoke as Aditsan heads for the bedroom. He doesn't want to upset Aditsan, or leave him upset like he is, but trying to explain how much he wants to keep Aditsan safe would take time. Time they don't have. Finally tearing his eyes away from his lover, Trevor goes over to the window, finishing his cigarette and dropping it in an ashtray on the way past.

"I don't think he's coming here, but if he is, I want us to be gone when he gets here."

He doesn't respond. Quietly but quickly, he gets the duffel bag from the bedroom closet. Aditsan begins throwing things into the bag, muttering in Navajo under his breath.

Once the bag is full, he comes back into the main room, tossing the bag onto the couch with muted annoyance. "How far away are your kin?"

"Once we get to the train, it'll take about two hours to get to the station in Philadelphia." Trevor throws the bag over his shoulder, and steps in front of Aditsan. "You know I'm not trying to be difficult, right? As soon as we're in the car, I can tell you all about it. We just need to get going. I should have been here before, but this was the first time since it all happened that I could get here."

Trevor places his hands on Aditsan's hips. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I couldn't get here faster, and that I'm dragging you into this."

"I understand," he says quietly. The anger fades from his voice but not his eyes, and he leans in to place a soft kiss on the side of Trevor's face.

"You do not need to apologize, you are only concerned for my safety. Shall I stay until you return?" Worry, now. "You will return, yes? I will not go if-- you must promise me, Shá-Tse`gah."

Yes, Trevor tells him softly, taking him by the hand and heading for the door. As he continues, he tries to hide his own doubt at his words. "On both counts. I promise, I'm not going anywhere. But I need to make sure you're safe, or I won't be able to concentrate on stopping Caleb."
