2 Years in a row

The Pac-10 whines their 2nd best team doesn't get into the BCS and they play a 'sub-par' Big 12 team and lose. Texas Tech last year lit up Cal and Oklahoma just about did the same thing in the 2nd half tonight against Oregon. The score and a few plays Oregon got really lucky on don't do justice to the domination OU had in the 2nd half. In the ( Read more... )

1) Why do you hate USC?
2) I just saw the Sportscenter version of the game. I'll be watching the whole game soon thanks to TiVO, but from what I saw, tonight's game was extremely close, and close to OT until Oregon's QB threw a pick. But... 1 quarter does not decide dominance in a game. If those quarter stats were every quarter, then it would be domination, and the score wouldn't have been nearly as close. But all I needed to see was the score, and know it wasn't domination. Don't mean to diss ya, but I don't enjoy the Big 12 anymore, and I don't agree with your defenses...
3) Oklahoma is no where close to "sub-par". They were top 10 at the beginning of the season and have had top 10 recruting classes for about the last 5 years. Oregon isn't close to the talent OU has. I'm surprised they stayed in it as long as they did...
4) The Pac-10 doesn't need to be "whiny babies". They have the last few national championships due to the best team I've seen since I was born...
5) Those small steps lead to great things. You're young. Don't fret too much.

To my disdain for USC. I know some people from USC and they are pretty arrogant. The sportswriters, especially ESPN, are already deciding their place in history before they play Texas. Ask LSU who won the National Championship 2 years ago. Or Auburn and Utah who did last year. They aren't even considering putting an asterisk to what USC did these last few years when there's one next to Mark McGwire's former HR record but he broke the record before he played more games than Ruth and Maris. The National Championship is still mythical and it will always be that way. A playoff system isn't going to help either, cause FSU could win it technically. I just remember when OU of 2003 was going through and demolishing teams, they said they were the best college team of all time, then KSU beat them. Stop giving USC accolades they don't deserve, yet.
Also I'd venture to say Nebraska of the mid 90s was a much better team than USC. Should have won the championship in '93, won it in '94, 95 and '97 and finshed #3 in '96. That's 5 years of utter dominance when Spurrier, Paterno, and Bowden were in their primes. USC may end up being the first team to 'officially' win three straight national championships, but if they ranked teams the way they do now back in the 50s, Oklahoma would have won at least 4 straight quite possibly 5; 47 straight wins when you play only 9 times a season. There was at least one class that went through that didn't lose or tie a single game they played.

See my reply for Derek for other stuff.
