Yesterday Brandon drove down from Mount Vernon to spend the day with me. We were lucky that the weather was amazing and headed out for Penrose State Park. I had packed a picnic including: sandwiches, cheetos, grapes, Jones cream soda and chocolate dipped individual cheesecakes. The sun was shining and we had the windows down with the dog snuggled on the back seat. Dave Matthews was blaring from my speakers and I had my sunglasses on. It felt sooo much like summer.
There was hardly anyone at the park. Luckily not too many people know about it even though it is the most beautiful beach around. The tide was slack when we got there but you could see the sandbar under about six inches of water. We put on our tevas and headed out with the dog. By the time we walked way out on the point, the tide had gone out and the entire sandbar was visible. We attempted to take a picture of the two of us on it. We will see if it turned out. We picked up baby crabs and looked at all the gooyducks. Bizzy had fun splashing around and tangling us up by her leash. It was a beautiful walk. We went up to a grassy area that was surrounded by little white daisys and buttercups and sat on a blanket and had lunch.
After lunch we went on a hike and explored the park a bit. We found some nice trails and walked along them for a while. Afterward we headed back down to the beach and walked along it with the dog off her leash. We found a small saltwater lagoon and I waded through it with Bizzy. I went out a little deep and called Bizzy out to me. She had never been swimming before since most Frenchies are too top heavy and can drown. She came to me barely touching but then hit a deep spot and was forced to swim. I was impressed to find that she was able to. She was so silly after her accomplishment that she ran around in circles. It was hilarious.
We went back to my house and had an amazing dinner courtesy of my mom. After dessert we went down to the harbor and sat underneath the new pavilion and enjoyed each others company and watched the boats go by. But alas, now I sit here on the couch reminiscing without Brandon. I'm lonely again.
