Adventures In Apartment Renting

So week two has now passed by... with no trash pick up. The dumpsters in front of our complex are now so full that people are being forced to just lie their garbage in front of them. The people who don't really care either way are leaving it to sit by their front doors. The complex is starting to smell... and it's been hot.

What. The. Hell?

(Yeah this is going to be a rant)

I have tried my best to be patient with this company that took over the complex and fired our building manager in April. His job was to keep up with maintenance of the property from changing out filters, busted lightbulbs inside the apartments and outside in the breezeway, clean out the cigarette butts from the stone ashtrays in the front and back of the breezeway and upstairs, pick up trash on the property, restore empty apartments after the tenants moved out, and collect rent. There is no one here to do that anymore. The place looks like a freaking joke. Unless you happen to give two shits about the building you live in, the garbage isn't picked up between cigarettes, beer bottles, whatever else someone else was lazy enough to leave behind. If you need something fixed in your apartment, you have to call the company and they MIGHT send someone to fix it for you. This, I can live with and this I can understand. It's how most complexes work and we were spoiled with having someone on the property to do it for us.

What I can't understand is how we can go two weeks with no trash pick up to the point that it's starting to look like we live in squalor. I've come upon a rumor that the reason the trash isn't getting picked up now every Tuesday and Friday is because the landlady can't pay Waste Management. WHAT THE FUCK?

If you can't afford these amenities then why the hell did you take up the complex? If you can't afford these things for us any more, then give us some of our hard earned money back that we're giving you guys to do this. My biggest fear and one that's shared by others in my complex is that if they can't afford something as simple as trash pick up, then we might lose our included cable next, or our water. If that's the case then I better be pay 300 bucks a month for this place.

If it wasn't such a pain to move again, and I could be assured that I was moving into a good and safe complex, then I would. But despite the fact that it's turning into a fucking dump, I like the people I'm living with. Most of them are friendly and will help you out with anything you may need (crazy Greek ladies aside).

Maybe I'm just being a self centered bitch... Is there anyone else who reads this that feels I'm justified in being pissed or am I just being irate for no reason about all this?
